“Excellent location, must see engraved mirrors, dire music”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

On this rain soaked day in London The Salisbury presented an opportunity mid afternoon to get out of the perpetual rain and have a relaxing drink. The pub was 99% full inside and out although a courteous Australian woman gave up a spare chair to allow us both to sit at the sole remaining table by the door. We ordered a Bombardier and Stella Artois Black (never seen this before). Both were ok. The bar staff were efficient and smiling. We didn't eat, although Fish and Chips are advertised. What drove us out far too quickly back into the rain was the pop music booming from the speaker above our heads. I fail to see the need for such a raucous din when all the many people present seemed to want to do was relax and chat amongst themselves.

“Classy and classics”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

The Salisbury is a very nicely decorated and furnished pub that is ideally located for a post-Covent Garden (or post show) drink. They serve the English classics (cask ales, English breakfast, various meat pies, fish & chips) and while it won't blow you away, it's all very good. Reasonably priced too.

“Nice choice near the theaters and British Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

As we were walking toward the British Museum and getting hungry, I started to get worried. There are a lot of lousy-looking chains in the area, but when we saw the Salisbury, we popped inside. The interior is gorgeous, everything we foreigners want a Victorian pub to be. The cask ales were decent and the food was OK.

This is a Taylor-Walker chain pub, meaning they have the same menu as a ton of other pubs in London and around the UK. That's OK, because their pies, fish and chips, etc. are all solid. You won't get anything amazing, but you won't get anything horrid, either.

“Great Historic Pub in Covent Garden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

As historic pub lovers, we were looking for the Lamb and Flag, but it was closed for renovations (re-opens March 25). The friendly staff at the Apple Store in Covent Garden redirected us to The Salisbury, since that's where they all go for drinks after work. It was wonderful. The decor, with etched glass windows and mahogany bars, was a trip back in time. The staff is very firendly and the food is delicious. Things are definitely hopping after 5:00. Eat here if you are in Covent Garden. It's also a short walk from Trafalgar Square.

“A touch of Victorian London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

A delightful old style pub which reminds one of a Victorian Gin Palace...you wouldn't have been too surprised if it still had gas lamps to go with the huge old etched glass mirrors.

A fine range of traditional ales and spirits in a friendly atmosphere, well cooked and presented food and usually attentive staff make for an enjoyable visit .

The Salisbury is handy for Soho, leading Theaters and the varied delights of Covent Garden.

Well worth a visit at any time.
