I stayed at the Grosvenor hotel 1 night on the 30th of April for a business trip.
I paid 260 € for a double room for 1 night (excluding breakfast) which was I think really overpriced. I was happy to stay there for only 1 night ...
The hotel is located adjacent to Victorian Station, it is a huge Victorian building including around 345 rooms recently renovated. I was in a wing of the building which is quite inconvenient as I got lost the first time when I was looking for my room : I had to take 2 lifts or to take one lift and cross nearly all the hotel for a long way to finally get to my room.
This hotel is a real impersonal maze with no charm apart from the formal Victorian atmosphere which has been upgdraded in a modern style.
The room was large enough fitted, with a big double bed, the decoration was OK but not outstanding nor original. The flat screen TV is positioned on the left hand side wall which is a non sense if you wish to Watch TV from your bed. There is noise insulation problem : you can hear everything from the corridor (people talking and closing their bedrooms' doors), there should be a kind a sliding door separing the entrance of the room from the bedroom inorder to reduce noise.
The fitness Centre is modern but quite tiny with few fitness equipment.
A strange event happened just 2 days after my short stay : someone tried to make a purchase with my credit card on a UK website. Hopefully, it was a secure website as I was warned by a sms about this purchase and the transaction couldn't go through. Apparently my credit card details' print have been taken and someone tried to use it ... The only persons who manipulated my credit card during those 2 days I spent in the UK were the reception staff who took the print of my credit card when I checked in and another staff who charged me for my room when I checked out. I never make any purchases on UK websites, I didn't hand over my card to anyone apart from the staff at the reception of the hotel and I always had my credit card with me during my stay .... This might be a pure coincidence but I find this very strange ...
