I stayed here for two nights on business in February 2013. The hotel itself is clean enough, but the 4-star rating seems a tad generous. I stayed in a room below street level, opening onto the street. The windows are only single-glazed and so it was very noisy. I didn't realise that there are several hostels opposite the hotel too, so being on the sub-ground floor, with the single-glazed windows meant that it was very noisy at times and difficult to sleep. The rooms were a very good size, but the shower room was very poorly laid out - the toilet was right up against the wall on one side, which made sitting on it very unpleasant. Equally, the toilet-roll holder was behind a corner wall, about 6 inches off the ground - again, a bizarre and inconvenient place to have it. The shower soap holder was really loose. The grand living room is very spectacular, but the bar is in a separate room, so if you want to have a drink in the hotel's splendid room, you have to carry them through from a separate room. Overall, this was clean, convenient and near Queensway tube, so very convenient for work, but I wouldn't stay again if I could choose a different location.

This was a comfortable stay in a well located hotel. It has an interesting history reflected in the public rooms which are unusual - in a good way. Room waswell equiped with a comfortable double bed and decent bathroom. Only thing is that the roomwas not big.

Good enough that I am back next week

Stay for 5 nights in Jan 13, and glad that I chose this hotel. The room is small, but I was only back in the hotel at the end of the day, so doesn't bother me. It's near to 2 underground stations and very convenient to travel around London. The breakfast offered is a great start to the day.

Having read some of the reviews after I booked, I arrived at the hotel with no great expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from reception and the beautiful surroundings. Agreed the rooms are small as is the bathroom but the cleanliness and quality of the furnishings in both are of a high standard, more than I expected for the price paid. At breakfast there was everything you could have wished for and I can't imagine anyone wanting anything more. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and overall it was an experience that my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed and one which we hope to repeat. We would certainly stay at The Grand Royale London again.
