I am from Malaysia and visited this pub after reading reviews. It did not disappoint. Pub has great of time atmosphere and walk in is like stepping back to another time. You imagine this was what pubs were like in the 1950s.
Bartenders are friendly. Good selection of food and reasonably price. Tried the roast beef and found it average. Not the same standard as the Garrison on Bermonsey Street.
But the selection of beer here is fantastic. Possibly one of the best selection of bitters and ales in London. I would recommend anybody visiting the area to try the beer. Royal Oak is easy to find. It is behind the Empire Square Apartments and opposite the Borough tube.
I definitely will visit the next time I am back in London.
