“Classic place for tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We had to wait a few minutes for our room at the Park Lane to be ready and the front desk gave us a ticket for "free drinks" at the Palm Court. Since it was early afternoon and we had just arrived after a long flight, tea sounded much better than drinks.

The tea was served in very classic style, no tea bags here. A very hot pot, an extra pot of hot water, a pot of milk and of course, a tea strainer.

The waiter served the first cups and left us in the comfy couches to listen to the live harpist play familiar melodies. It was so nice that I might even consider paying for it next time. :-)

“Lovely way to spend the Afternoon!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013 via mobile

The Palm Court at The Park Lane Hotel is a really beautiful Art Deco room where you feel as if you have been transported back to another era! Wonderful decor and plenty of soft sofas give it a relaxing feel, although we were seated at a traditional table for two.

The service was friendly although a little slow, but we were in no rush at all and enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere of the room. Our Champagne arrived with menus to select our tea.....(i chose Rose Bud tea which was beautifully fragrant). The sandwiches were delicious and we were offered replenishment, scones were also very good with clotted cream and lemon curd.....we felt that the cake selection was ok but could have been more exciting.

The harpist that played throughout was fabulous. The Palm Court is a bit of a thoroughfare on the way to the hotel reception, so there are always people passing by.

This is a really interesting place to visit as it has such a feeling of the past! We really enjoyed our afternoon!

“Good Menu Options and Service in Central London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

The Palm Court was a last minute decision on a Saturday evening and we were seated with a minimal wait with no reservation.

My friends had the mussels and were pleased while I had Coq Au Vin and was very satisified. We had a bottle of the house wine with our meal that was a good value for money and was a good accompaniment to our meal.

A bit busy and loud, though was a buzzing Saturday night in London. Likely more relaxing on a different night of the week.

“Afternoon tea in lovely surroundings, complete with harpist!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

We were lucky enough to be given a voucher entitling us to afternoon tea at the Park Lane Hotel on Piccadilly.

The location was the lovely art deco Palm Court, which is certainly an impressive place to take tea! The service was second to none - friendly and discrete at all times.

Sandwiches were first - some gorgeous flavours going on, and we were immediately offered "seconds". We declined, as we wanted to "pace ourselves", but it was a struggle!

After that we were treated to lovely warm scones with jams and cream, and then a range of pastries and tarts (again, seconds were offered and declined).

A wide range of teas was offered to accompany all this, we just went for the English Breakfast Tea - top quality served in silver of course. And the art deco crockery just added to the whole experience.

Bottom line - would we pay the "asking price" of £33 per person? Probably not, but we certainly enjoyed our little taste of the "high life"!

“A relaxing Afternoon Tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

The very beautiful art deco Palm Court provides the home for this excellent afternoon tea. Mumm champagne to start with followed by the usual finger sandwiches, scones and sweets with tea, of course. The quality of the food is very good, but not the best we had... still, the coziness and beauty of the place, the harpist - who plays Billy Joel's "New York state of mind" on harp, what a great thing -, the politeness of the waiters makes the occasion unforgettable.
