“Our second stay at the Rhodes Hotel did not disappoint. Clean, cozy and great value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

Three of us stayed on an upper floor and shared a room which included a king and a single. The beds were firm and comfortable. The room was very clean. The spa bath was very enjoyable. There was a small frig in the room stocked with milk for coffees and teas, as well as a tea/coffee pot.
There is a nice view of the street. There are double windows that can be closed to keep out some of the night noise. There is even airconditioning in the room . There is a nice litte sitting dressing makeup area away from the bathroom which I thought pretty handy when sharing a room.
Breakfast is pretty good. The people are very friendly.
The hotel is an easy walk from Paddington Station.
I would stay here again.

Room Tip: I have only stayed in room on 2-3 floor facing the road.

Very good place in which spend your holidays in London.
The rooms are very clean and everything is tidy. The owner of the hotel is a very gentle man and was very kind with me and my friend. We didn't find a room and he did everything for us in order to give as a bed to sleep.
Breakfast is good and they serve all you want in great quantity. The whole personnel is kind and always available. The most suitable adjective for them is: professional!
Very good price for a great location!

Chose this hotel after checking several on Tripadvisor for our first trip to London. Booked a room for December 23-29. Location was great as it was minutes to both the Paddington (straight down London Street) and Lancaster tube stations. Since it was our first trip to London we took advantage of the offered car pickup at Heathrow (LHW) to our Hotel. Cost L50 including tip. Arriving about 1 PM our host and hostess greeted us warmly and had our luggage taken to our room (#215) and provided us with a map, site and travel suggestions for our stay. The room is average size for the rooms we have found in our travels around the UK and Europe though considered small by US hotel standards. The room was comfortable, clean, plenty of lighting (a nice plus) and good water pressure in the shower. The room overlooked an inner courtyard. While not much to look at we appreciated the quiet nights without street traffic. Breakfast was plentiful with ham, turkey, cheese, an assortment of breads, basket of toast, fruit. Go for the full English breakfast (added supplement) and hope you get the Egyptian beans, a specialty of our host Chris Crias. Much better than the baked beans you usually get with a full English breakfast. The owners are very much present and take pride in their Hotel and ensuring their guest feel welcomed. Several places in the area to eat. Enjoyed the Dickens and Victoria Pubs as well as Island Grill (go early or make reservations),Spices of India and Mughals restaurant. Stay away from the Sussex Fish and Chips shop (soggy chips and overcooked fish).

Thank you to Chris and Maria Crias and the staff for helping make our trip memorable. We will stay here again and recommend it highly.

This hotel is in a great location with lots of eateries around & good pubs too. London hotels aren't known for their roominess & this is no exception. However, it is very clean and very comfortable, which is important. The staff and the owner were helpful & welcoming.

A larger breakfast room is needed to overcome the need to cue to wait for a table for breakfast. The rather basic breakfast was generously supplemented by the owner who offered wonderful fried eggs & haloumi cheese to us all free of charge - a lovely touch. He also gave chocolates to the children as a Xmas treat.

Overall, it's a good place to stay in London.

I wrote my first review about this Hotel a few years ago and thought it's time to write another, since I've been there numberous of times and there has been a few changes. For example there is this new annex building, in which I've been now twice - last time was in October. This new annex building is newly renovated and looking good. I earlier missed the air conditioning, but that is there also. Only one big downside in this hotel is it's breakfast room. It was ok for the main building itself, but now with the annex building it's a way too small and crowded all the time. It is also very hot in there, because there is no air conditioning. The hotel desperately needs a bigger breakfast room WITH air conditioning. Breakfast itself is moderate, but ok. I suggest you'd pay four pounds more and get English breakfast. That'll keep you going!
As we all know, the rooms are small, but they are clean, which is the most important thing and they are nicely decorated in my opinion. The staff is always nice and friendly! Location is just perfect with Piccadily station just few hundred meters away and also only few blocks from the Hyde Park. it takes only 10 minutes to walk to Oxford street.
I go to this hotel maybe once or twice a year with friends to watch football in London and it just suits for us perfectly. I must say, that if I was to travel with wife and kids, Iäd probably take another hotel with bigger rooms, but if I was short of money, this is still not a bad option.
I will be back.

Spent 3 nights at this hotel November 22. 2011.for 3 nights. Clean room, excellent bed and linen - bathroom small but perfectly formed - clean towels - soap/shower gel/hairdryer. Fine breakfast - plenty of variety and well stocked - excellent care and attention. Staff more than helpful - offered left luggage service/maps etc. Very convenient area - we used our bus passes (over 60`s) and found buses to all popular destinations were very near to the hotel. Plenty of eateries close to hotel.A direct bus from Kings Cross to hotel/Oxford Street etc. Will definately use this hotel again when visiting London - a clean and comfortable place to sleep/shower and breakfast. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation

Rhodes Hotel is ideally suited to those travelling into Paddington, as it is a 10 minute walk from the station, and about 5 mins to Lancaster Gate tube station. We stayed here 2 nights in November 2011, and would happily do so again. It is possible slightly dearer than others in the vicinity, but still represents good value due to its cleanliness, location, and room size.

We were given different rooms for both nights (not their fault as we extended our stay after booking online), and in both cases the rooms were comfortable and ethernet cables were provided on request for free internet.

All in all a pleasant experience and definitely on the list should we need to stay a couple of nights in London again.
