So you went to London and saw St Pauls and the Abbey, but did you get to Southwark Cathedral? Too bad because it is a gem. Unlike the big boys Southwark is not jammed with tourists so moving around it more relaxed. Along with the great interior you can see the monument to William Shakespeare without waiting in line. Outside it rubs shoulders with London Bridge and a great covered market that gives you the sense you have stepped back in time to see how these great churches actually lived within their communities. Literally around the corner from the Globe Theatre and close to the Tate Modern its location makes for a great opportunity to see life on the other side (of the Thames that is)!
