“The Epitome of Effortless Luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Throughout our years of travel, my family and I have enjoyed more than our share of fine hotels. Many fell short of the expectation one attaches to "star ratings." Without a doubt, The Goring stands apart from every other hotel by virtue of its absolute, and seemingly effortless, elegance.

The authentic kindness of the staff coupled with their gracious expertise only contributed to the beautiful surroundings. We will all hold that stay at the Goring as the new standard of excellence for every other hotel to match.

The highlight of the stay was, of course, the afternoon tea. We had enjoyed tea at Fortnum & Mason, but the tea at the Goring outshone even that afternoon. The deep, comfortable couches coupled with the rich, warm colors were a perfect complement to the luscious tea and scones. Beautifully presented and as delicious as anything we have ever enjoyed, tea at the Goring made for quite a wonderful afternoon.

Superlatives aside, words will fall short of providing a true picture of this delightful hotel. You simply cannot ask for more from an establishment or their staff. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to another very soon.

Room Tip: Both rooms the we stayed in were lovely and the small business center was reasonably equipped. Happi...

Dear Jacqueline_Ballard,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your stay with us earlier in the summer.

We are all blown away by your comments and delighted that we stand apart from other hotels. It was such a joy to read your review and the team and thrilled that from the moment you arrived you were not in the least bit disappointed.

I have to agree with you our afternoon tea is something truly special. Ian and his team in the pastry produce the most incredible array for treats that it is impossible not to sample every single morsel.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to The Goring and that it will be before too long.

With warmest wishes,

On oct 1st 2013 my two daughters and I took afternoon tea at the Goring as part of my daughter's 30th birthday celebrations. The entire experience from arriving at the front door to leaving by the same route was wonderful. Congratulations to all the attentive and helpful staff who may this visit extra special for us and surprised my daughter with a special birthday cake, most unexpected a lovely gesture. Would recommend this to anyone who wants the real Macon when it comes to afternoon tea.

Thank you

This hotel is the last thing in luxury, no wonder the Royal Family use it. Princess Kate stayed here the night before her wedding, would I stay here again, yes without a doubt. If you want to have a taste of luxury living then this is the hotel for you

I've stayed in plenty of great hotels in my day, but The Goring is right up there in terms of service and standard. The rooms are spacious, quiet and luxe; the food and drink served at the hotel if a high quality and fair price.

This IS the place to stay in Central London!

My husband and I stayed at the Goring for three nights. From the moment we checked in, tired and weary from travel, until they graciously helped us depart, hurriedly and early, we were treated like royalty. Immaculate and comfortable. Location was wonderful. We walked to many attractions, and the on/off bus (a must for first-timers) was just a few blocks away. Hotel bar was small and inviting. Service was at-the-ready for anything you needed. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful with a nice variety. A wonderful place.

Dear sob4510,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your recent stay with us.

I am delighted that you felt like royalty from the moment you arrived at The Goring. Our team pride themselves on making all of guests feel welcome and perfectly at home from their first step inside the hotel.

It is true we are so lucky with our location. Beeston Place is tucked away making it very peaceful but still only moments from the hustle and bustle of London’s top sites.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to The Goring so that we can take care of everything for you once again.

Stayed in a garden view room which was light in design and of excellent decor.
Service was 5 star and breakfast was excellent.
We stayed overnight prior to a visit to Venice so the fact that the hotel is a little out of the way re West End etc did not matter.

The Goring is a marvelous choice of hotel in a city with marvelous hotel choices. The warm, friendly and familiar handling by the staff is such a pleasant surprise that is becomes the one thing you take away with you more than even the impression of the stunning property itself. The garden, the busy bar, the "must-do" afternoon tea and the sumptuously decorated rooms (I stayed in #96 - A Splendid Room/Garden View) are quintessentially British and make your stay in London truly special.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to the Splendid or Most Splendid category and a view of the Garden.
