Owner description: Elizabeth Tower is the name of the famous tower of Parliament - more popularly known as Big Ben. Although often referred to as Big Ben, this is actually the nickname of the bell housed within Elizabeth Tower - and Big Ben's official name is the Great Bell. UK residents can arrange a tour of Elizabeth Tower through their local MP or member of the House of Lords. Unfortunately these tours are not available to non-UK residents. A tour takes you up the 334 stone spiral steps to the top of Elizabeth Tower to hear Big Ben strike the hour. As well as seeing a spectacular view of London from 62 metres up the tower, you also go behind the clock faces and have the opportunity to visit the mechanism room to learn about how the clock works in the 21st Century.

What a great architectural building to look at. This area is quite crowded but at least there is much in the way of area that you can take some fantastic photos.

“Another tick on the bucket list.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Beautiful and surprising. I never noticed the gold gilt before seeing it in person. Disappointed that only UK residents can take tours but worth seeing to say "done that". A must do one everyone's list.

“Pretty Cool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We did a boat tour and ended up near Big Ben, it was really neat being able to look at all the details. It does get pretty busy, especially on the weekends. We were also able to hear big ben, that was pretty neat. We really enjoyed the sites of London, at least before it started raining!

“A must see just to say you saw it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Really, Parliament AND Big Ben is the attraction. Take the time to walk by, admire the buildings and snap a few pic's. The clock tower really is a work of art. The architecture is beautiful and well worth the visit. There are great photo opp's here. Tip - Turn your camera to black and white mode and snap away. Best of all its free to walk past, admire and see one of London's most treasured sights.

“Big Ben In Person”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I walked right out of the Westminster underground and looked up at Big Ben. Great sight and its proximity to Parliament was wonderful. We got to hear it chime at noon. It was in great shape to be as old as it is. Well worth saying you have seen Big Ben.
