Owner description: Elizabeth Tower is the name of the famous tower of Parliament - more popularly known as Big Ben. Although often referred to as Big Ben, this is actually the nickname of the bell housed within Elizabeth Tower - and Big Ben's official name is the Great Bell. UK residents can arrange a tour of Elizabeth Tower through their local MP or member of the House of Lords. Unfortunately these tours are not available to non-UK residents. A tour takes you up the 334 stone spiral steps to the top of Elizabeth Tower to hear Big Ben strike the hour. As well as seeing a spectacular view of London from 62 metres up the tower, you also go behind the clock faces and have the opportunity to visit the mechanism room to learn about how the clock works in the 21st Century.

“Historically magnificent”

This is a site every tourist has to see! Not to miss, great to see the detailed architecture up close. It can be seen along the horizon of the river Thames, would recommend walking down south bank up to Big ben.

“Nice place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Its sure a place one must visit. Does not take long to see it since its all done from outside. You can walk around 3 sides of it and the last side is facing the water. Good thing is that its free to look at.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

My 12 year old daughter and myself visited the "Big Ben" in a beautiful day at the beginning of June 2013.
Not too many know that the name "Big Ben" is a nick name given to the bell inside the clock tower and named in honor of Sir Benjamin Hall.
We came (walking) from St. James Park through "The Household Cavalry Museum" and turned right. After 5 minute walk, there it was.. Big, impressive, overwhelming and accurate!
If you visit London, don't miss it.
If you wish to get there by the Tube (London underground), you can exit in Westminster Station, but you can also use Waterloo Station and just walk over the River Thames on Westminster Bridge and you will enjoy the view from a different angle.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

This British icon lives up to the hype, especially at night with all its lights. My best photos of England were taken at this landmark. Try to time your visit to hear the chimes. Great pics can be taken from the bridge or across the river on the South Bank.
