Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting.

“Amazing tour guides”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Make sure to get a ticket for the tours somehow, if you're in London for more than a few weeks. The guides are knowledgeable and funny.

“London's Iconic Tower”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

I unfortunately didn't have time to go on a tour, but even without that experience and background I still think it's worth a trip. Big Ben, and the rest of the parliament building, well deserves its iconic status.

“Brilliant tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

We went a couple of weeks ago(09/02/13) on an organised trip with Beestons which included a guided tour of the House of Parliament.

We didn't know what to expect but it was a brilliant insight into the workings of parliment and an excellent experience.

Well worth doing this, but make certain you go round with a guide as they were so informative

“Marvellous - and free if you contact your MP!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Not many things in London are free but if you contact your MP in advance and arrange a tour this excellent visit to Westminster Hall and the Houses of Commons and Lords is! Every step is a step through history, from the spot where Charles I was sentenced to death to the place where Spencer Perceval was shot and where Queen Elizabeth II gets ready for the State Opening of Parliament. The guides are friendly and informative and offer loads of information and interesting snippets. We have done this tour on a couple of occasions and it is one of the best things I have ever done in London and is to be thoroughly recommended. If you are going to get in touch with your MP, and want to visit when Parliament is in session, see if he/she can get you a place in the public gallery for Prime Minister's Questions on a Wednesday - it's great fun spotting faces from above and watching the sparring!

“Great architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Great architecture and the foundation of a civilised society. Recently visited House of Lords (next door) as a guest. Visited the terrace bar which had amazing views. Worth a visit if you can get in!
