“Mabledon Court Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

I personally cannot fault this Hotel . i travelled from Hull to meet up with my daughter, on the 21st of december 2012 as she lives in kent. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Kings cross . . we arrived before 1 oclock (12.30 pm) but the staff gave us our key to let us put our luggage away and then came
away and had a coffee down the road.on our return we were greated in a very nice manner as before the room was very clean and as a domestic cleaner in a hospital . i have to work to a very high standard so i didnt have any complains the bed was may be a little to firm for me ( thats just me only) other wise the sheets were spotless .as was everythiing else. the only little let down was that there was a little tear in the material on the chair . the toilet/shower room was spotless too there wasnt much noise from traffic or the pub right nextdoor to the hotel (we went in to it later that evening and had a drink after having a lovely Italian meal Across the road from KingsCross station but i forget the name of it but I recommend this Restaurant Aswell) either but at times i could hear the odd door from in the hotel but thats nothing to complain about for our breakfast there was a cooked breakfast not a mans size but for me and my daughter it was ok cereals were also on a table with fruit juice tea coffee toast. the dining area was very clean and once again the staff were very nice me & my daughter departed the hotel at 9 am to start our journey back to HUll for christmas yes i would come to this Hotel again

The hotel is close to King's Cross station and in the Bloomsbury neighborhood with plenty of nearby places to eat and shop The rooms are small and the bathroom even smaller, but we've had worse in this neighborhood and I was delighted that the place had a lift/elevator so that we didn't have to lug our bags up the narrow stairs. Breakfast was made to order and tasty. The price paid is very reasonable considering you are in London. We'll stay here again.

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel for the price, only there one night so I could just about live with the miniscule shower cubicle.. but otherwise it was perfect for a flying visit, clean room, comfortable bed, nice TV and desk area and what looked like a good breakfast service ( I missed it thinking it would be on until 10 - but sadly only available until 9!) It is very close to both Euston and Kings Cross so very handy if you are catching an early train back in the morning, no need for the busy tube rush! Would stay again.

Cute, friendly, small hotel with a prolific outside display of colorful, lush flower planters over its entry doorway and front windows ~ in an effervescent London college neighborhood, the nearby University of London, which has several interesting books, consignment clothing, grocery, and souvenirs shops to explore and meander through. A post office inside a grocery store is just down the street, too. we were attending the Chelsea-Arsenal soccer game at Emirates Stadium the next day, and the front desk person was very helpful with intracity train information, traffic patterns, and then, ultimately, Heathrow airport transportation for our return flight to the USA. Very cozy, small dining room on the bottom floor with white tablecloths, adorable white ceramic dishes breakfast setup for two, self-service breakfast condiments on a long sidetable, single-serve European coffee makers, and a friendly female wait staff for cook-to-order breakfast entrees. On this same floor, attached to the dining room is a comfortable-looking, 2-couch sitting area with current London newspapers and a flat screen TV, airing the latest English soccer games and scores.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Although this hotel is clean it is TINY. In addition to this the double beds are more 3/4 and are very short. While you can deal with the size of the bedrooms if you are only there for a night (which we were), the bathroom is more of a struggle. It is more of a cubicle and the shower is tiny. The shower head is low and the shower curtain makes the cubicle claustrophobic. The taps are old fashioned (not mixer taps) and as the hot was stiff to turn and the cold was easy, in order to prevent burning yourself you had to step out the shower first you ended up flooding the floor. There is no extractor fan in the bathroom so it is permanently 'soggy' and foggy. Breakfast served in the basement is adequate but cooked with little care. While this is fine for one night, I suspect that the only reason for the 3 stars due to the 24 hour reception service. Overpriced for the facilities. (Also don't go out without handing in your key - we were told off by the gentleman on reception! Whilst I appreciate that this is for fire safety reasons, we did feel like naughty students!)

Negatives: The bedrooms in this hotel are very small - the small double bed is against the wall and there is little room to move between the furniture. There is no air conditioning so the rooms are hot (even in September) and we couldn't leave our window open overnight as the catch had broken (room 12). The shower enclosure is very small and the shower curtain clings whilst you are showering.

Positives: The location is absolutely fabulous for the Eurostar, being a few minutes walk from St Pancras International. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was better than expected, with a huge range of cereals, then toast and a nice cooked breakfast. The Tea and Coffee making facilites in the room were very good, biscuits were provided as well! Nothing was too much trouble for the waitress at breakfast! The room, although small was immaculately clean and had everything you needed.

Overall if we needed another stay for 1 night for the Eurostar, we would definitely return!

I recommend the Mableton for anyone who travels by Eurostar and who wants to stay in a budget accommodation. En-suite bathroom and breakfast are included.
