“Romance stay on week day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

Stay in late May on week day on Romance basis. This gives us a late check out at 14.00. It include champagne on arrival, breakfast and dinner and two half hour spa treatment. Really finely staff and a fine hotel. Large double bed was very comfortable. Did not hear much traffic noise on the 9th floor. Room is large for London hotel. Its a superior double. Room is large enough with a small double sofa to sit on. Nice robe and slippers. Treatment at the spa is excellent although its only for half hours. Pool is pleasant since there is no one there on week day. A few lounging deck bed would be nice as there is only chairs and very small lounger that you can not lay about in.
Very good location to Oxford Street and theatres. Dinner was good but not of fine dining which is reflected in the price which is very reasonable for London. No complaint specially the foreign (German) girl waitresses is very friendly indeed and make it a very pleasant evening.
Carpet could do with cleaning to brighten it up. I would certainly come back. In fact, will book again for late August Romance package.

Room Tip: Top floors. Choose at least superior room.

We stayed here while visiting London on a theatre trip. It's a decent enough hotel but more like 3 star than a 5. Room was a decent size but we felt the decor was a bit dated. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work which meant after a shower, the bathroom took ages for the condensation to go. Also, there was a gap between the bottom of the shower and the top of the bath so the floor was flooded after a shower. The continental breakfast was of good quality. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is in a great location.
This trip was for my wife's 50th birthday, and whilst we had a nice break, ultimately were disappointed with the hotel. It was definitely not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel.

I was only in the Grange for one night, but was very happy with the hotel. If you have enjoyed a stay in any other Grange hotel, then it is entirely consistent. The rooms are not quite as large as the Grange City, but they don't lack any of the niceties: comfortable bed, free wi-fi, music player, tea & coffee facilities...
Hotel itself if really conveniently located, only a couple of minutes from the Holborn tube station. Despite being on a really busy road, even as a light sleeper I wasn't disturbed by the traffic. But if you like late lie ins, that may become more of an issue.
After 2 showers I still hadn't figured how to turn it on without getting a headful of cold water, but I reckon that if that's the worst gripe, then it's been a pretty good stay overall. And the gym/spa facilites are really good. No broken equipment or tired decorations.

We stayed at this hotel on a Sunday evening. It was easy to get to, a 4 minute walk to Holborn tube station, or a 10 minute walk to Tottenham Court Road tube station. All the staff we spoke to were polite and helpful. The room we had was clean and spacious, and the swimming pool and sauna, a perfect way to unwind after a day in London. The bed was perfectly comfortable, and the black out curtains certainly did the job, our room was on the 1st floor, and we heard nothing from outside. The following morning we woke up later than we had intended, (thanks to the black out curtains) decided to eat in the hotel, rather than look for somewhere else. We went for the full English, at a cost of £26 per person, it wasn't worth £2.60, the fried eggs had uncooked whites and bouncy yolks. It must have been cooked in big batches and left for hours. We were in the last 45 minutes of a 3 hour service, but if they'd cooked fewer more often it would have been better, or done what most other places do and make eggs to order because let's face it eggs don't keep.

Quick check in at this 5?????star hotel in a great location , Close to tube and Covent Garden a short walk away. Quiet area in the evening. Traditional rooms ,tiny bathroom . Breakfast -didn't try ,too expensive, but nearby Patisserie Valerie ,Cafe Nero and Pain Quotidien. Iron didn't work, but soon remedied by arrival of new iron + board within 5 mins of call to Reception. 3rd floor corner room facing front but quiet and bed comfortable, slept well. Very friendly and helpful staff. 5 star staff ,but rooms a bit tired.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have great, light, people watching views.

Stayed 5 nights with my husband and small daughter and were upgraded to a room with 2 queen beds on arrival. The room is MASSIVE for London. Given that our ave rate per night was GBP200 I think you'll be hard pressed to find such value anywhere else in London. St James Hotel is ca. GBP650 per night for a matchbox sized room.
Bathroom was very small with a single basin only but the bath was great and I was able to stretch out full length. Water was hot, fixtures all Grohe so nothing to complain about there. Towels were changed regularly and appeared clean but had an odd smell...
Not a kid friendly hotel as the pay tv had only one movie - Planes. For those with little kids, there is a kids menu available on Room service. Food was good and arrived hot after 15-20 mins.
Honestly, this is NOT a 5 star hotel. The beds are not very firm, the decor is "ugly English", the tv isn't good (limited channels), the room was noisy (on a busy rd with ambulances and police cars chasing up and down all night) BUT it was really great value, clean and very big. Located quite close to Holborn tube which takes you any where you want in London within the space of a few minutes. Staff were pretty friendly and aside from one lady at the bar who struggled to communicate in English, everyone was always very helpful. Would usually prefer to stay in a true 5star but honestly, for what we paid, no one should be complaining that they didn't really get it here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the main road....

Booked this the day before I was due to arrive via Lastminute.com and I stayed during a bank holiday. It is close to Holborn underground staiton (approx 10 mins walk). Easy to spot.

Rooms were really clean and I did appreciate the number of pillows, number of towels and necessary items such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner (surprisingly good compared to others), and body moisturizer that has been provided.

I loved the way they provide a nice looking jar for cotton wool and the "wet-room" style shower head - would be good to have toothbrush and toothpaste as well but it's not bad.

Two beds makes it good and spacious too esp for those that may not want to share a bed. Good choice of food on the menu and the complimentary wifi and use of spa facilities makes it a plus.

Would be back. Nice 5* hotel.

Room Tip: Lastminute.com would be good.
