“An interest option, to keep money for other touristic attractions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Great localization, near to the Russel Square tube station. London is a city where the hotels are very expensive, specially to the foreigners. The Tavistock hotel has an affordable price, then you can have more money to enjoy other touristic attractions, usually expensive too.
The rooms are simple, but clean and organized.
You can walk to visit the British Museum, London University and other beautiful places (including pubs!) near the hotel.
Choose the england breakfast, you´ll pay a little more but you´ll have a considerably better meal.

Like many London hotels, the public areas are good, based on art deco styling. The rooms are small but comfortable, with all the usual facilities. Breakfast is good and large, service in the restaurant each morning was a little haphazard, but essentially delivered. Jacques wine bar was good with low key light meals as well as good lunch and dinner. Location is good with buses, taxis and nearby train stations.

Right next to tavistock square gardens garden, great art deco ground floor. As with other Imperial hotels, rooms are serviceable and comfortable. Breakfast is a buffet, either continental or full English depending on the rate paid.
Better than the normal budget chains, and well placed to walk into the centre of London or to kings cross/ st Pancras

I have stayed at the Tavistock several times and the "Lets Go Weekend" is an excellent value offer. You get B & B and a voucher for either lunch or dinner at one of the other Hotels in the group. Also a free drink in the bar etc

The Hotel is always busy and many of the staff have been there for years and are very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a lower floor.

Stayed at Tavistock on business. Although the location is great - the hotel is awful. The rooms are run down, mattresses are old and lumpy, and the amenities are lacking - no hand towels, no bath mat, no hair dryer, no thermostat and no clock. The wi-if is awful - only available in the lobby and overloaded. It was awful. I'd rather be camping in a tent.

The hotel is well-situated, wich is positive. The rooms are extremely tiny, and noisy. Even the courtyard is noisy. Wifi is only available in the lobby, so when you're back after a long day you have to stay downstairs to plan your next day's visites. The staff was not helpfull no smile. At the check out we wanted to correct the invoice, change the name to a firm's name wich caused a terrible scene. The staff at the desk was rude, even the threated us, if we continue this behaviour (means asking for the change of the name) they won't do it, because they dont have to do it...it was aweful. They weren't polite at all. It wasn't a good experience.
