“Exceptional food in an informal setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Really can't imagine a nicer spot for lunch with friends on a grey day. The staff is young and helpful. The interior design allows glimpses of wonderful fresh meat, fish and wine, as well as a great view of the busy kitchen.
The amuses bouche were flavourful and unusual (light pork scratchings with apple/mustard sauce and sicilian olives with salt cod brandade). I had a light citrussy crab salad starter. My turbot with cauliflower and cockles was one of the best fish dishes I have eaten, with wonderful clear flavours. The goats milk rice pudding and ice cream with honeycomb was extraordinarily well delivered with great flavour contrasts. The pre- and post-dessert treats were also wonderful.

“Good but didn't blow me away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

We booked three months in advance (the most you can) for a special evening during our trip to London. We were taken straight to our table which was disappointingly packed in with many others and which made access by the waiters to serve very difficult and the noise from adjacent tables during the evening so loud I couldn't hear my dinner partners conversation! Shame, as the quality of the food was very good, innovative and beautifully presented. We ordered martini aperitifs whilst perusing the menu but strangely only one arrived and it took some time to attract the waiters attention to obtain the second drink. Overall, if you enjoy a place with a loud buzz and don't mind being squeezed in somewhat, then this restaurant is definitely worth a visit for the quality of the food and experience.

“Amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Had the tasting menu, which at £80 is expensive but well worth it! The only disappointment were the pork scratchings they served at the start. Service is great, and the dinning room had a nice feel to it. Worth a try.

“Trying too hard with new technics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our dinner at the social club, but I can't understand how this restaurant is placed 17th in the list. The food is imaginative and playfull with all the new dry freezing technics used in in molecular cooking, yet the tastes and textures don't necessary compliment each other. Trying too hard to be different. The portions are minute, you feel stupid paying the price. The decor is modern and loud and gives the place a feeling that its happening. The restaurant is divided in two rooms, each a bit different from the other, could see no reason why. The staff was very nice, yet didn't always understand what we needed. The coffee with its petit four was a real treat. Overall, price like all chef restaurants yet still amateurish

“A good place for lunch, but ........”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I arrived for lunch about five minutes after my host who had already been served with an aperitif whilst waiting for me. However, on my arrival I was poured a glass of water, but was not offered a drink by the waiter!! After about five minutes my host had to call the waiter over to take my order. There was also a misunderstanding over our wine order. Not what I would expect from such a high end establishment. For some reason we had to wait at least 30 minutes between each of our four courses, which seemed an inordinately long time, and that included waiting about the same length of time for two expressos to be brought! However, on the positive side, the food was imaginative with interesting flavours and beautifully and tantilizingly presented. There was a buzzy atmosphere; but the tables may be considered to be to close together for some people's liking, nevetheless it is an ideal place for both business and social entertainment, being conveniently situated between Bond Street and Regent Street. Despite the wait, I will certainly return.
