“Amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Had the most wonderful stay in this hotel. The location is excellent being just a short walk from Victoria. The room itself was extremely modern with a huge flatscreen TV with sky and a bathroom which also hosted a TV in the mirror! The shower was huge and hosted 3 different types of shower head as well as a glass wall which could switch between clear or opaque. The bed was also huge and very comfortable. Would strongly recommend!

I signed up to trip advisor especially to warn people away from this place.

Short version - Air conditioning broken, none of the technology worked and the staff don't care.

Lengthy version - We stayed for one night as we were in town for a wedding. Upon arrival we were promptly checked in and assigned someone to help us to the room and explain all the technology. It was a very hot day and we were informed that the air conditioning on our floor was broken with no alternative rooms available, he then began to demonstrate the technology in the room, quickly realising nothing worked he became flustered and left to ask if they could check us into a different room later in the day. It was during his absence that I realised he had not inserted the key card into the room to turn things on, so upon his return I asked if that was why and it turned out to be so...must have been his first day. Then he showed us the fridge in which I immediately noticed a number of the drinks had already been opened and only half consumed, promoting further embarrassed laughter/apologies. He then showed me the iPad by the bed that was supposed to be our interactive way of ordering anything. On the home screen it had a nice welcome message for a completely different guest and when unlocking it would go black and say "no guest registered"...We were in a rush to go to he wedding and assured the iPad and AC would be fixed by the time we arrived back at the hotel some 10 hours later (midnight). Neither had been...when we called downstairs the gentleman told us to just open the window because the rooms towards the back of the hotel are very quiet. I told him our room faced the front and he just relied "that's quiet too don't worry" which it was, until the 6am roar of lorries, cars and gallop of horses on road. Shortly after we received a call from reception to say the ironing board that we had not even ordered was coming...

The staff were as unreliable as the technology. I won't he surprised if I get a room service bill for a completely different room such is their incompetence.

Positives...nice showers and the TV worked.

I have stayed at this property twice, once two years ago and now in May. The hotel is very nicely appointed and is kept up very well. I think the rooms are quite nice and of a very good quality.
The area is quite residential so it will take a few minute walk to get to Starbucks or to get any type of food other than what is served directly in the hotel. There is transportation nearby, within a 5-8 minute walk. The bus station can also cause the area a few minutes away to feel a bit transient.
The food options served for lunch/dinner in house are a bit limited and can get boring after giving it a try once or twice. Afternoon tea is an enjoyable option that I gave a try.
The staff are friendly in general, some seem a bit friendly in an over the top way, for example, calling out to me as I am exiting the front door to greet me. Although he meant well it seemed very bizarre and confused me. The service in the bistro is inconsistent even when it is not that busy.
Overall I really enjoy the Eccleston because of the quality of the hotel room (including an amazing bed) and the building in general.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the lower level (-1) have a small outdoor terrace which is really nice and a pleasant...

had a single night stay at the Eccleston Square hotel earlier this week. The gadget-laden room made the stay a lot of fun, but overall it was the excellent service from the hotel staff that stands out, especially Marinela and Kristina on the reception.

Saw previous comments about the room sizes been an issue but from the hotel website it is clear about detailing the sizes so wouldn't have an issue with them. Overriding feeling about this hotel is that is could be so much more but it lacks warmth or any real engagement. Things are very clinical and black or white (literally) and given it's small size it could engage in a better way IMO. Rooms are clean, well appointed and nice bathrooms. They have packed a lot of gadgets into the room and possibly to much as it does take some time to figure out where everything is. Breakfast was fine, server was a bit cold and felt very restricted as to what you could or couldn't do as no explanation as to how the set-up worked. For the money, I'd try somewhere else next time as the was no real welcoming feeling in the property; not that anyone was rude, just all very sterile.
