“A Real Find if You are in London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Great little hotel. Nothing fancy but clean, super location (you are right next to the British Museum). John goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. One small glitch: When we arrived, late in the afternoon, we were "greeted" by a member of the night staff that was borderline rude, curt and not very accommodating. He told us the manager would be in the next morning. Once we met John, everything turned around quickly. We had been warned about security in London but the Morgan keeps the front door locked at all times with video monitoring. We never felt insecure at any time, so I wonder if the warnings about London weren't a bit of an over reaction for this part of London.

Room Tip: Stay on the back side as you avoid the street noise. None of the rooms is very big or fancy but for...

My friend and I stayed at the Morgan two nights at the beginning of a two week trip to Great Britian and four nights at the end. Each time we shared a (different) satisfactory twin room on the first floor facing the street. The rooms and bathrooms were a decent size for London and had good storage, were clean, and had nice towels and bedding. The beds were comfortable but we needed ear plugs for sleeping (okay with us) because of the traffic on Bloomsbury Street. The breakfast room was large and pleasant; the food was good if not extraordinary, and there were plenty of options. The staff was couteous and helpful. Our biggest complaint: signs in the bathroom warned against drinking the water from the taps. No good explanation was offered, nor was bottled water provided so that guests could at least brush their teeth. This seemed ridiculous in a hotel that, while not terribly expensive, was also not one of the cheaper ones in the area. However, the hotel's location was unbeatable. I was able to take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Holborn Station and walk to the hotel. Many sights in various directions could be reached by walking, and tube stations on other lines were also within an easy walk. The hotel literally backs to the British Museum. I would always choose to stay in Bloomsbury when visiting London and think the location of this hotel outweighs some shortcomings.

Room Tip: If stairs are an issue, make sure you ask which floor you'd be on. If you don't like to sle...

This b&b is _right_ behind the British Museum, between Holborn and Tottenham Ct tube stops, near lots of restaurants, and walking distance to Leicester Square. I stayed in a 'small sinlgle' rm, which was small but well-appointed and comfortable. One walked into the bathroom--odd--but otherwise, it was perfect for me (and included many anenities--wifi, phone, TV, safe, air dryer, etc). Service at check-in was indifferent, better at breakfast. Good breakfast w/ eggs cooked to order. I'll seriously consider coming back for my next trip to London. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars (rounded up for the location and breakfast).

Stayed there a while ago and breakfast was included ( huge) We had a great downstairs room and it was near the British Museum and close to alot of great areas. It was suggested by friends and I would defintely stay there again. The rates were very reasonable.

The Morgan Hotel is conveniently located near the British Museum. It was very clean and the beds comfortable. However, "it was not a fit" for us and we feel that we could have been given more info about our accommodations before arriving. We asked for a quiet room via email arrangements and we were given a room on the 3rd floor, 60 steps up without a lift (elevator). When we arrived at our room, the sign over the sink in the bathroom said "this is not drinking water.' After a day of climbing up and down the steps, no frig. or hot pot for a cup of tea, and no drinking water, we checked out. The attendant was nice enough not to charge us for that day. We were in room 215. It is very small for two people. If you are "roughing it" and all you want is a shower and clean bed, this will be okay. My husband said the breakfast was good. You can check your mail in the small hallway as you enter the hotel. The one night attendant was nice and made us a cup of tea, but the other attendants appeared to be "stand offish" when we approached them with questions. It was not a warm and friendly welcoming place.

Room Tip: Ask questions before you book. Remember--lots of stairs and no elevator.

My husband and I stayed at the Morgan Hotel in September 2011 and loved it! First of all the location is perfect, in walking distance to shopping sites, the theater district, and best of all - right next door to the British Museum! We also found plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. Tube stations are close by and we went wherever we wanted very easily. As for the hotel itself, the people in charge were very friendly and helpful with advice when we asked. The breakfast was served in a very pleasant room and was very good. Our room, though small, had everything necessary, and was spotless. The towels in the bathroom were so thick and soft - what one would expect in a 5-star luxury hotel! We asked for a taxi to the airport on our last morning, very early, and the taxi was ordered and showed up on time, and for a reasonable price too. This hotel was recommended to us by friends who have stayed there on numerous visits over the years, and now I can see why. We will definitely try to stay there again if we visit London in the future, and will recommend it highly to our friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back, because the main street in the front can get noisy. We had no trouble wi...
