For various reasons I went to the King's Head Theatre on Saturday and Sunday one weekend in April with two different sets of friends. The first night we saw "Ballo", a new, English-language version of Verdi's "Un Ballo de maschera", and the second night we saw a series of monologues called “Californian Lives”. Both were brilliant and a credit to the venue. I was a bit worried about the accoustics in the back room of a pub for Verdi, but it worked just fine. The performers were excellent.
