The entrance to this museum is tucked away in Horse Guards Parade and worth a visit if seeing the mounted sentries in Whitehall gives an interest. (But note that it will be closed until Sept 30 this year because of the Olympic volleyball.) The museum is relatively small but covers 350 years history of the regiments with displays of uniforms, swords, medals, paintings and so on. You also view a section of cobbled stables no longer used but identical to those in use, visible through a glass screen. You can also try on items of uniform including the plumed helmets. Don't expect to spend a long time here unless you have a specific interest. An hour is probably enough for most people, so try to time it so you can watch the changing of the guard outside as well (11:00 am daily).
