“Great company dinner”

Food was ok quality, great surrounds in a screened off dining room with attentive service. The cost was higher than expected but a great night was had.

“Quality Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

Very nice, had the duck deal from top table with champagne. All came up perfect. My only thing that you should take into account, that if your a big eater, may need to order a few extra dishes.

“Grand and Imperial, as it says on the tin!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

This is a fantastic restaurant choice in the neighbourhood, serving Cantonese food in an upper scale environment.... without the price tag (for London). For a £30 set menu, you will be treated and full. Dim sum, shredded aromatic duck pancakes, crispy shredded beef, pepper chicken, fried rice... All with perfect seasoning, lovely flavours, and portion sizes. Only the green tea crème brulee was a tone under the rest of the partition, a polarising taste and probably too rich a texture after such a feast. We were in a group of 20+ folks, and were hosted in a private area, but despite the size of our party, we enjoyed a swift and efficient service. You can tell that this restaurant is paired to a serious hotel, as staff really delivered. This a serious alternative for the other Asian restaurant in the area, Mango Tree, which is offering you a Thai menu but also a less formal environment.

“5* food, 1* service!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

BOOKING: Booking the restaurant was very easy. I booked online on the Grosvenor Hotel's website. It was quick with an email confirmation.

FOOD: Before I discuss the service we experienced I must say that the food was incredible! It was the best Cantonese food I have ever eaten. Dim sum to die for! Compliments to the chefs however I am sorry that their food was overshadowed by the appalling service!

SERVICE: When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly waiter who instantly made us feel like valued customers. We were shown to our seat and it all appeared to be going well. We ordered a bottle of wine and our food.

However, one hour later our starters arrived! Exquisite as they were this was far too long! Our main course arrived a little quicker (about 10 minutes quicker!). While we were halfway through our meal a new waiter came over and asked 'will you be wanting dessert? It was Chinese New Year yesterday so we're closing the kitchen early tonight.' At this stage, only halfway through our meal, which I was greatly enjoying, I was not yet considering dessert. A waitress also reiterated this 'we're closing early so could you order dessert, coffees etc now if you want them?' It was then we decided we were obviously not welcome so finished our meals, paid and left. We will not be visiting again!

PRICE: the food was delicious, however in itself it was not worth the £152 we spent on two starters, two mains and a bottle of wine. The service was some of the worst I have ever experienced, more suited to McDonalds at midnight than a restaurant in central London.

“Good food, but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Perhaps our best meal in London. This is an Asian fusion restaurant with a large menu. The food was fantastic, but very pricey. Service was excellent and the place had a great ambiance.
