“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

We stayed there in May and it was just wonderful.
John and Norma are such warm and freindly people who welcomed us with open arms.
The breakfast was amazing, nothing left to wish for. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The rooms and the house in general look very stylish.
I highly recommend staying there!

John & Norma are excellent, friendly hosts; we felt like staying with friends. We enjoyed their impressive warmness and hospitality. The nice home is located in a leafy and quiet suburb called Muswell Hill (see Wikipedia) which almost like a village. The transport connections (bus, tube) are very good. You will reach Piccadilly Circus within 40 minutes.
We will recommend the accommodation to our friends.

This review may say more about the guests than the accommodation!

We chose this place because of Tripadvisor and by the time we got here it was (& is) #1
B&B in London. With the last 49 reviewers giving a perfect score, and perhaps the next 49 will to, I am reluctant to write this review, and it should be read in the context of the other - all 5 star - reviews.

A fairly typical North London suburban home with a nice, large main bedroom and smaller duller second bedroom. Some way from central London - so we only gave 3 stars for location. I rang a few hours before arriving to see if my son could have bacon and sausages for breakfast. Alas no. Norma is Vegetarian, so no bacon (or sausages) for breakfast which didn't please my youngster (no cornflakes on the first morning either) and he didn't even like the croissants - usually a favorite of his - but a good selection of fresh fruit and pastries plus egg dishes, toast etc. No wifi in our bedroom (which John said he will fix and was not normal and perhaps caused by a new telephone system. A huge plus for washing our clothes for free (!!!!) and for driving us from the tube station.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if i needed to be in the area (if I hadn't written this review).

This is one of the best if not best B&B's we have stayed in. Muswell Hill is a lovely area and John & Norma's home is beautiful. From the moment John picked us up at the tube station we were made to feel very welcome and we even got a wee tour of the local area on the way back to the house. Both Norma & John gave us handy hints on museums, markets and local transport as we were going the Emirates stadium nearby for a concert. Norma's breakfast in the morning was fantastic, fruit platter ..lots of different cheese's..croissants..eggs, its by far the best breakfast we have ever had in a B&B. Our room was large, fresh and the bed was extremely comfy and we had a fantastic sleep after our busy day! We will be back!

I stayed at this lovely B&B with my sister for 2 nights. We had two lovely rooms, a very large comfortable double and a single, sharing a tastefully decorated spotless bathroom. It was great having the breakfast room to make a hot drink at all hours. The breakfast was wonderful.

John and Norma could not have been more helpful with information on restaurants, buses, trains and reasonably priced taxis. Their offer to pick us up from the station from greatly appreciated.

The location is great for restaurants/pubs within walking distance and the bustling village of Muswell Hill. Bounds Green underground is a longish walk but there are two buses passing the B&B if it's too far. Heathrow is a convenient direct journey from the underground on the Piccadilly line.

John and Norma are great hosts and provide all that one would want in a B & B. We stay in many B & Bs and there is always something missing. Not at John & Norma's! They have zoomed in on what us Yanks desire in a B & B and provide it superbly. Large bedroom, private bath, good shower, nice home, nice neighborhood. And let's not forget the breakfasts! Great selection and healthy! Great poached eggs and crumpets among many other choices! We enjoyed our conversations with John and Norma especially talking about similiar music tastes. If you want a fine B&B at a reasonable price, this is it! Rosemary & Steve

With all the glowing reviews of John and Norma's Homestay, it's difficult to find new superlatives to describe our stay. Suffice it to say, it could not have been better. Our room, Norma's breakfasts, the home, and the neighborhood, were all as good as everyone describes them to be. The only down side of such great reviews is; it's going to be impossible to get a room when we want to return, next year.

After a five night stay, when we departed, we felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. And, indeed we were. And, what a terrific way to see London. From a "real" neighborhood such as Muswell Hill. We were able to take buses everywhere we wanted to go. Sitting on the upper deck, in the front seats whenever possible, it was like a tour of London, as well.

Also, there are some excellent, reasonable, restaurants in the neighborhood. We especially enjoyed 'Hilly Kitchen' on Alexandra Road heading toward the Bounds Green tube station, and, 'Rajma Tandoor' in Muswell Hill, Broadway.

Thanks again John and Norma.
