“Spain in London”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2011

Had a suite for the family. Clean but smoking room hence there was a rather stale smell. Air con was poor. Restaurant too expensive. Staff nearly all Spanish. If you want to practice English look for something else. Snacks in club lounge worthwhile, especially after a long day.

Room Tip: Club floor no smoking!

Dear Jonathan9999

Thank you for taking the time to post your review in tripadvisor.

I am pleased to inform you that as of September 2011 we became a smoke-free hotel. All hotel rooms and public areas of course, the latter as per Law, are non smoking areas.

Kindly note that we have more than fifty nationalities amongst the associates working at the Melia White House. We feel very proud and promote diversity in our organisation. Being a Spanish owned hotel, a good proportion (but not the majority) of our associates come from Spanish-speaking countries.

Thank you once again and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

With kind regards

This hotel was booked for a work stay in London. The hotel is ideally situated a couple of minutes walk from Great Portland St tube station. It's a short walk into Central London and is not far from Euston, St Pancras and Kings Cross stations.

Reception service was very slow and could be improved.

Rooms are small at the entry price level - I stayed in room 131 - and as other reviews have noted, are noisy near the lifts.

Breakfast had been included when booking but I was not on the list when I went and hadn't time to argue.

Would recommend the traditional pubs that you'll find as you walk down the side streets off Great Portland - The Crown and Sceptre has good food and is a lot cheaper than hotel prices!

Rooms are nicely presented although small at the entry price.

I was on a work trip on Septemper, and shared a standard room with my colleague for 2 nights. Hotel was fancy and clean, and the staff welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was tasty with a large variety.

Excellent in every respect from the moment one arrives until check-out

Room Tip: Avoid next to the lift. The Level is well worth it

My Husband and I stayed in a Suite at this hotel for our 10th Anniversary. I can honestly say that we have rated this hotel as exelent because every aspect of our stay was made special by the most fantastic and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them! The room was extremely clean and comfortable, but we did not imagine it would be otherwise as the hotel itself was very well looked after.
On the first night of our stay we made a reservation at the L'Albufera. All I can say is "WOW". The food was out of this world and of michelin star quality! We made use of the Level lounge and were impressed by the free drinks and nibbles. We had cocktails at Longfords Bar and they have a great table service also. My Husband and I will most deffinitely be staying at this hotel again.

Room Tip: The Suites are Fantastic!

As our first visit to London, we were extremely lucky to find such a great hospitality at the Melia White House, starting with a cocktail at The Level and following with a daily caring from all staff. Concierge extremely prepared and perfect in giving us suggestions and directions; smiling and fast staff at The Level for both breakfast and snacks; professional staff at the Reception as well as for the room cleaning. My husband had also the opportunity to use the gym and was satisfied.
The Hotel location is simply perfect. What to add? We're already planning our next visit to London - at the White House, of course :) Thank you!!!!
