“Nice hotel and convenient for East London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

I arrived here for work and was pleasantly greeted by the reception staff. They were very accomodating after I asked for a room overlooking the river they made a couple of changes and I was given a lovely room.

The facilities like the pool and bar/restaurant are great. The only issue is the isolated location with a reliance on getting the hotel bus to the tube station and inconvenience if the tube isn't running but such is life anywhere in London, it just becomes more apparent located here.

Fantastic family weekend had at an Hotel who really helped us enjoy ourselves. The free ferry is a good addition, Tube station Canada water is a 2 minute bus ride or 15 minute walk.breakfast great and jubilee line can get you to the O2 in minutes.

We chose the Hilton Docklands for it's close proximity to the O2 Arena, where we were going to the Robbie Williams concert. We arrived at around 2-45pm and our room wasn't quite ready, so we sat in the bar, overlooking the river and with great views of Canary Wharf. I parked on the road outside the hotel, as it was £12 per night for parking in the hotel car park. We eventually got our room, off to the right as you faced reception. We were on the 5th floor, right next door to lift 2. The room was quite small, and I was glad I didn't take the cat, as there would not have been room to swing it in the bathroom!! The view from the balcony was great, as we could see Canary Wharf and also had views of the Shard & other central London landmarks. There was a good sized TV but I was disappointed that there was no information folder in the room and the info on the TV was non-existent. I would have liked to know about the leisure facilities, breakfast times, ferry information & check out times but none of this was available.

Having quickly unpacked, we set off to meet our friends, so got on the complimentary ferry over to Canary Wharf, and we eventually met them, after they go lost trying to find the dock. It is quite a walk to / from the tube station, especially with heavy cases etc. Once our friends checked in, we took a taxi in to Grenwich, for a pre planned night with friends. The taxi cost £9 in to Grenwich, and £15 back, after midnight.

The bed was comfortable, but a little creaky, and I had to get up in the night to open the window & the balcony door, as it was really hot in the room. There was plenty of hot water, and a great selection of complimentary toiletries, together with tea, coffee etc. The room had a safe, plus an ironing board & iron and we also got dressing gowns and slippers. We went down to breakfast, and although the dining room was busy we were quickly seated and seved with fruit juice & ample tea coffee etc. The breakfast selection was fantastic, offering fruit, cereals, an excellent fry up selection, and you could also order omelettes, poached eggs etc. The waiting staff, like all the staff throughout the hotel, could not have been more polite or attentative, possibly the best I have ever known.

We eventually set off in to Central London, picking up the Jubilee line in to Waterloo. Getting accross on the ferry, and the walk to the tube station probably takes longer than the tube journey itself, and this was not helped by the rain! After a full day in the centre, where the two blokes took in a football match, while our wives went top see a show, we decided to go straight through to the O2 for the Robbie concert, rather than messing about going back to the hotel. We had been told there were plenty of restaurants etc at the O2, which there were, but unfortunately the minimum wait att any one of them was an hour and a half, so we were struggling to eat before the concert. We just about managed it, getting to our seats just as Robbie came on stage.

After an incredible concert, we had too make our way back to the hotel, knowing that the last ferry back from Canary Wharf to the hotel was at 11-30pm, and the concert didn't finish until after 10-30pm. When we saw the queue just to get into the tube station, we thought we had no chance, so set off round the back of the station to where we were told the taxis went from. As we got round the back, the doors to the underground were open, with no queue, so we quickly shot down to get on the tube! We made it just in time for the 11-30pm ferry, though the operator said they were making a further trip accross to pick up any stragglers. So in less than an hour after the concert we were back in our room and fell into bed, completely exhausted, but still on quite a high after a great day.

Check out the next morning, following another great breakfast experience was quick & easy, and they stored our cases while we spent the day in central London.

This is a great hotel, with great staff, and as long as you are quite fit, and understand before you go that the hotel is not easy access into the centre, then you will have a great stay. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for being so kind and attentative.

Room Tip: I was told that rooms to the left as you are facing reception are better than the ones to the right.

We were seeing Robbie Williams at the o2 so wanted a hotel reasonable close. On checking in the helpful and friendly staff informed us of the easiest method to and from the o2 (by the free ferry service as it turned out) and off we went to our room. We were knocked out by what we found. The room (2526) looked directly out across the river to Canary Wharf. The view was superb. There was even a small balcony where we could take in the view and could even see the o2. The bed was hard, something of a trend in Hilton's, and the bathroom cramped otherwise the room was very nice. Breakfast the following morning was busy but excellent. We will stay here again just for the view.

Room Tip: Rooms 2525 and 2526 have a balcony and view across the Thames to Canary Wharf.

Stayed at docklands Hilton for two nights on visit to London.
Having used Hiltons before you expect good standards and this one does not disappoint.
On arrival staff were polite friendly and confident, check in swift and hassle free.
The hotel is split in to two half's left and right of reception. Having read other trip advisers reviews I requested a room in the older part of the building (left hand side) as these have been refurbished and have good reviews.
The building itself appears to have originally warehousing on the banks of the Thames, with modern fittings tastefully complementing original features such as exposed brickwork.
Our room was clean spacious and extremely comfortable with modern fittings as you would expect from four star accommodation
The hotel itself has good facilities and although the Bar a little pricey its probably worth it for the fantastic riverside views of London's docklands at night. Breakfast fab in restaurant, although buffet style staff are on hand to assist.
The hotel has good links to Canary Warf ExCel and o2 Arena with transport across the Thames via complementary Ferry
Overall a good quality Hilton Hotel, only downside no free wi-fi £15 per day but not that important on our trip.

Room Tip: Request Room in older part of building on left of reception if avilable.

Stayed here to visit our daughter who is at the University of London as it was close to her campus. Arrived at 9pm and were given the keys to our room which when we entered was completely disappointing - the walls and carpet were marked ,the room smelt of damp and there were no toiletries in the bathroom plus when you opened the door the top right of the door had a crack of ten inches which meant it was hanging off its hinges when opened and finally the room was just off the main corridor and very noisy.I went back to reception to complain and they refused to give us another room as they were full up and told us this was typical of their basic rooms.....having stayed at the Hilton in Islington only 6 weeks before and booked similar through Hotels.com and being a seasoned business traveller this didn't feel right but reception refused to move and we considered moving out to another hotel but as I walked away I subsequently met and complained to the the Restaurant Duty Manager Albert and he was excellent.

Within 3 minutes of hearing our complaint he had organised a complementary dinner and some drinks whilst he went to sort out Reception area and organised a new room on the 5th floor. The room was cleaner and much improved compared to the first and the kind touches of food and drinks helped us retire that evening.

The new room was cleaner and much better but still had a damp smell - we won't be back but would congratulate Hilton on Albert your excellent Restaurant Manager.

Stayed at this hotel during World Travel Market. Room wasn't ready when I arrived (I find that the UK is the worst country in the world for accommodating arrivals before 3 PM so I can't single this hotel out for this issue) so they kept my baggage, gave me ferry tickets and all the info I needed to run to my meetings and even offered for me to refresh myself in the health club.

When I did finally arrive around midnight they were very polite at the desk, had my luggage to my room in no time. I was in an upgraded corner room with a FABULOUS view of the river and Canary Wharf. Outstanding. No mini bar which disappoints. Very comfortable bed.

Breakfast was top class and the service was outstanding and friendly.

Ate once at the pub and the food was very good and although the servers had an unexpected rush they did keep their composure and the food was very good.

The health club/gym was fabulous, better than most hotels. I would stay here again.
