“Hungry horse with a view”

If you are looking for a restaurant which has an amazing setting then barbecoa is for you. If however you are looking for good service and great food you will be disappointed . The menu is the same unimaginative rubbish that you will find in most beefeater style establishments steak and refried beans with chips . Don't ask for anything not on the menu. We asked for garlic butter and where told the chef could not make it ! . Garlic butter is hardly master chef .
Our first order of drinks took twenty minutes to come , the second order was forgotten as was the brandy at the end which by then I needed.
Our waitress informed us that she had met Jamie Oliver has he been back I asked? No was her reply I think I will follow his example.
Positives steak was well cooked, wine list was well chosen
Negatives, bad service, basic steak house ,expensive for what you get,
Verdict Try the chop house at butlers wharf ,great view of tower bridge, same price but good service and great food , you may even find Jamie Oliver there.

“Amazing food, Good ambience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Excellent place for meat lovers!
Arrived without a reservation but staff was courteous and offered a seating in the bar.
Place has the City vibe with most of bar / dining area filled with after-work diners (Can be a little loud). A delicious dinner of burger and chicken breast, even though my husband was miffed about his pint not being quite full. Presentation was stylish. Serving staff is attentive if slightly intrusive.
Overall a good experience. Definitely recommended!

“Wonderful views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Awesome Jamie Oliver steakhouse and butcher shop with a view of the St Pauls Cathedral. If you enjoy smoked/open pit cuisine, this is it! The venison was perfectly prepared (medium rare) and delicious. The side dishes of steak-cut sweet potatoes were the perfect companion. A great dining experience.

“Not great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Went here last night for a really special celebration, had exchanged emails with the restaurant explaining this and requesting a table with a good view...yet when we arrived we were put in the darkest corner of the restaurant. Really embarrassing as it was supposed to be a surprise!

Explained the situation to the waiter and we were moved mid-meal to a much better table.

My starter (crispy pig cheek) was tepid and bland, we had chateau briand steak for main which although pricey was to die for, amazing. They did manage to write a chocolate 'congratulations' on a wooden board with pudding but it was a bit too little too late. Bill was £140 for two with a glass of wine/beer.

All in all pretty poor value and service, the steak was the saving grace!!

The view was good when we eventually got to see it :)

“WOW!!!! what a steak!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Excellent place for a meal with friends or family.
We had the best bread selection we have ever tasted as a nibble. Olives on a bed of crushed ice were huge & pork crackling with apple sauce. The steaks that followed were cooked to perfection & were delicious. The chicken with fried bananas was equally as tasty. The desserts were out of this world.
The waiter was attentive & very helpful & was always on hand if needed but kept his distance so was not in your face whilst eating.
We will go back for sure for the next special occasion that crops up.
Yes it looks expensive but you get what you pay for & it is worth every penny.
GO & ENJOY!!!!!
Great views of St Pauls & the city too.
