“Great for business if you have to be in ExCeL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

If you need to attend an event at ExCeL, or Docklands, this is a fantastic place to stay, as the DLR line is right there, and it's well connected to main points of interest in the city as well. Be aware that the area is purely business, so in the night it's close to dead, but it's really quiet and there are a couple of things anyway.

The hotel itself is excellent: very confortable beds, quiet, free wifi, good service at reception and very good breakfast. There is an iron, which I always appreciate!

“Overpriced! Unhelpful syaff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012 via mobile

Very clean. Location not great.
Plug didn't work in bathroom after asking a few times for someone to look at it and reception saying someone would be up to look at it no one came. Resolved to emptying with a plastic cup in shower. No bath. Had to pay extra for water in room. Kept awake by the sound of trolleys a d running footsteps from upstairs.couldnt understand staff. Breakfast very busy fried egg would have been nice.

“Weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Just back from a long weekend stay at this hotel with my family.

It really was a great base, a bit further out than I would normally stay but with the tube station minutes from the door it wasn't an issue.

The fact that the hotel has recently gone through a refurb makes a big difference, however another plus point was the fact the staff were very good, particularly the front desk.

Would recommend.

“Can't fault it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Stayed in London for one night and wanted a hotel close to Liverpool Street station. With my favourite hotels in that area fully booked, this proved to be a good alternative.

Location is great, just moments away from Tower Hill tube station, and still at easy walking distance from Liverpool Street. Room was of a decent size with all the necessary amenities, but rather bland and generic looking decor. Bathroom not huge but fine with plenty of towels and toiletries for those who need them. WC was in a separate space which was quite cramped. WiFi worked like a charm.

Breakfast was quite a busy, noisy affair, but the food was good and restaurant staff were very attentive.

For longer stays I would opt for a hotel with a little more character and charm, but this was absolutely fine, can't fault it.

“One of the best hotels we have stayed in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We stayed at the Novotel for Remembrance weekend with my husband and parents. We had two executive rooms which I can not fault at all. The staff were helpful & courteous, the rooms were excellent, modern, clean & comfortable. The only critisism that I have is that the breakfasts were advertised at from £15.95 and we would never pay that amount for a breakfast. There is a Wetherspoons just around the corner about 150 yards away and the breakfasts were fantastic and affordable. On the whole this hotel was great and suited our needs. The location was great and quiet on the weekend as it is in the financial district and most shops were closed at the weekend. We also found St Katharine's dock which is near to Tower Bridge and there are quite a few Bistros and the atmosphere is lovely there.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are great, roomy & modern.
