“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We recently stayed in two rooms, partly business and partly pleasure. The rooms were in immaculate condition, perfectly maintained. The best thing about this hotel is that all the staff are charming and helpful, from the greeting by the doorman until the depature check out. To dine in the main restaurant a reservation seems essential, but the food and service in the 1st floor lounge were excellent.

Dear John F,

Thank you very much for your amazing review of the Lancaster London.

We are delighted that both our hotel and the staff have ensured a memorable stay for you. Our 2 restaurants do get very busy at times and I am sorry if you could not get a table straight away, I am however pleased to know that our lounge bar menu has been your liking.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Stayed in Lancaster London recently for 3 nights on a business trip. They messed up my booking so they upgraded me and included free wifi & breakfast. I did not actually have any breakfast, but appreciated this. There is also a gym, which I did not use. The wifi was very fast. The check in and concierge staff were very helpful and pleasant when I checked in. I had a room on the 12th floor, which was clean and in good condition. The hotel is literally around the corner from lancaster gate station, so very convenient. Only a few things irked me: I don't know if there was some event going on but always gangs of youths hanging about outside hotel and running up and down corridor at night chatting, and that they quoted the wrong price to me for taxi to the airport (which I also felt was a bit of a rip-off price): they told me GBP 60 for the taxi when I got in the driver claimed it was GBP 70- this is the top end of what should be charge and I felt quite peeved off about it.

Room Tip: Get a room as high up as possible.

Dear thzurich,

Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor.

We are pleased to know that an initial confusion was resolved to your full satisfaction, next time try the breakfast as we have put a lot of effort into improving it. We have recently installed Wifi boosters and we are glad to know you found the connection to be very fast.

I am not aware of any youth group staying in the hotel over October, however would recommend to contact our 24 hour Security team in case of any slight noise disturbance, we are more than happy to help.

I am not sure which airport you flew out of, but would like to assure you that our concierge team always aims at providing correct information about charges to any destination. As an example, the common price to go to Heathrow with black cab averages out at around £60.

I hope the he slight issues do not deter you from returning to the Lancaster London.

Regards
Thoralf Kretzschmar

After landing in a less-than-possible hotel the first night (no availability whatsoever in London on a short notice) I finally got back to the Lancaster, which by now I consider my home in beloved London! The reason why I review it again now is that, in addition to the usual comfort, location, professionalism, business center etc., this time I was so lucky to enjoy best check-in and check-out of my traveling life. The super-kind and super-professional receptionist who made me feel really welcome and at ease is Nina. Manager, please take note, she is truly wonderful!

Room Tip: Try to tell cleaning people to avoid constant door-slamming in the early morning

Recently returned from a stay at the Royal Lancaster and would stay again. Staff very helpful, room on the small side, but good views of Hyde Park. Rooms have hair dryers, safes, TV. Very clean. Large lobby area with doorman.
Concierge desk in center of the lobby. Hotel is on the A2 Bus line from Heathrow airport which stops outside.

We recently traveled to London to spend a week seeing old friends. As we used to live in Lancaster Mews, we booked our stay at the nearby Lancaster London Hotel. The friendly staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. We appreciated the personal attention and hand written notes from the Guest Services Manager. The the hot chocolate and cookies helped to get us through the seriously jet-lagged nights. We started our journey on the other side of the world. The restaurants in the hotel were convenient with attentive staff and great food. When we return to London, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: Corner suites are bright with good views.

Great hotel. Great room overlooking Hyde Park. Service was great. Nothing bad to say about our five day stay there. Tube station and bus to main sites only two minutes from hotel entrance. Get "oyster" card for tube and buses, it made it so easy to travel around London.

Room Tip: We had a park view room on the 14th floor which was well worth the extra cost

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times for business and just returned from a week vacation with the family and the Lancaster London did not disappoint. We arrived from the US on an overnight flight, so we were at the hotel early and thankfully I booked an early arrival room that allowed us to get some sleep until our room was ready at 2pm. When our rooms were ready at 2pm, the check-in was easy and we had a nice knock on the door from a hotel staff member with our welcome gift. Booking a hotel in London can be hit or miss, so here is why I recommend this one (and no, I do not work there or have any monetary interest):

1) Location - take the Heathrow Express to Paddington. The walk to the Lancaster takes 10 minutes. Not even worth waiting for a Taxi since you will walk 1/2 the distance to the hotel getting to the taxi queue at Paddington.
2) Tube - do yourself a favor and get an Oyster Card before you go or at any Underground station. The Lancaster Gate tube station is literally around the corner from the front door of the hotel and is on the Central line, which is key if you want to go to Notting Hill, St. Pauls, Southbank (Eye), etc.
3) Neighborhood - having a local shop, pub, restaurant close by is helpful and the Lancaster is in a good spot for all. If you need a quick dinner at the end of a long day, there are a couple great choices across the street from the hotel and the Victoria pub is just a 10 min walk

Room Tip: If you have a family of 4-5, book a suite with an adjoining room. Nice to have the kids next to you...
