“Perfect weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This hotel was very conveniently located, right next to the Lancaster Gate underground station, from where you can reach all areas of central London and beyond. The room was of average size, but the en-suite bathroom was quite small. There was an efficient air-conditioner and TV provided. All very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was really good although I found that the hot food at the buffet breakfast was rather cold. The hotel was very busy as there were concerts in the Park opposite, so consequently lifts were slow when everybody was trying to book out at the same time. All in all a very good and enjoyable stay.

Dear Ivy S,
Thank you for writing about your stay at the Lancaster London. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We endeavor to offer a varied breakfast buffet, including both hot and cold items. We serve these is smaller containers than some places, as then they require filling more frequently and thus remain fresher/warmer for the guests. We are sorry that you did not experience this at your breakfast, and your feedback has been passed on to the chef.
Thank you for taking the time to write your comments.
Kind regards,
Louise Pitcher

From the moment you arrive at this lovely hotel life is good. The welcome starts with the doorman and continues with the lovely reception staff and the cheerful smiling staff in the restaurant - nothing is too much trouble for any of them. The hotel is very clean, our room is always very good (this is our 3rd visit) and our meals in the Island Restaurant are superb. The variety of food on offer for breakfast is excellent and caters for every taste. The location is excellent for the Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, to be able to stroll across the road and walk to the Serpentine or sit and people watch and listen to the birds singing in the heart of a big city is a real bonus. Thank you Lancaster London we shall be back as soon as we can.

The plus points for our stay was the close proximity for Hyde Park for the Proms Concert, the friendliness of the staff and the hotel was very clean. The tea making facilities are a bonus.
The negatives are - our room was very small for an Executive Room, we booked a twin but although it was a double it was soon made into a twin by separating the beds. The curtains were very worn and even torn on the edges, the sofa was very faded and stained. The bathroom was very small, the basin could do with a good bleach. The bath had no mat inside, very slippery when showering and no grab handles, very difficult to get in and out the bath. The room also lacked attention to detail, there was no runner on the bed or decorative cushions which made it look very ordinary. It was Ok but did not warrant the grading of "Executive Room" and not worth the price charged.

Dear 243Carroll,
Thank you for writing about your stay at Lancaster London. We are sorry that you did not feel that the room you stayed in warranted its name. All our rooms will be upgraded in the very near future, and we are currently working on the designs to make sure that we do the very best that we can with this project. We hope that you will visit again, perhaps when the rooms are finished and let us know what you think?
Kind regards,
Louise Pitcher

Although the location is great the hotel needs modernising. Plug sockets hard to find as mainly old round plugs. Could not figure out how to get hit water in shower.
We had some drinks in the bar but service and staff were poor.
Breakfast was good and checkout fast

Have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel and I am certain we will stay here again. Every single member of staff that we dealt with was polite, helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making your stay comfortable.

This started with the doorman on check in. We knew that parking places here were tight and the car park was full on arrival. The very helpful doorman, assisted us to stack our luggage inside and gave us a map detailing several nearby car parks.

Check in was swift and again all reception staff were very personable. The room was more than adequate for our short stay. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The room, for central London, was clean and a decent size and the shower over the bath was very powerful.

We had the breakfast buffet included in our deal. Here again there was a plentiful number of staff all of whom engaged with the guests at seemingly every interaction. The buffet was of high quality and had numerous choices including Thai, Japanese and Arabic breakfasts,

All in all this was a very pleasurable stay. The room is comfortable but it really was the staff that made this place. This will definitely become our hotel of choice for our trips into London in the future.

To be honest, this hotel offers great value for money with large rooms and the beds were soooo comfy. I travel a lot and don't really come accross beds so soft! Great night sleep but only issue was that the curtains were not really black out so let light in easily in the morning. Iron was actually pretty rubbish so could so with upgrading them. Breakfast was actually pretty good with a selection of hot and cold food. Clearly states what you can have as part of the bb rate. Room was on 17th floor with great views of Hyde park... Easy access to tube, Mayfair and Hyde park corner- all walking distance via the park.

Would be a definite choice next time we are in London!

You are made to feel special as soon as you walk into the foyer of the Lancaster London. great location , only 2 minutes to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens , and a brisk 20 minute walk across the park to the Royal Albert Hall. If you want a real treat ask for an upgrade to a room with a view across the park.

Room Tip: The higher floor rooms offer the best views of course
