“Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Arrived there late at night. The hotel was very busy and the receptionists were chatting amongst themselves and one eventually served me. The room was very small. I needed room service but there was one thing missing - a menu. Had to ring room service to get one. It really wasn't worth the wait - an expensive Iceland type pizza at least the fruit platter was nice. My colleagues were not so lucky - their steak baguettes were raw. The worse aspect was the bathroom - it was obvious that the original shower curtain must have been replaced with an item that didn't fit. If you pulled it one way there was a gap and if you pulled it the other way there was a gap!!!! I just let the water go on the floor. Hopefully breakfast would be better - wrong. The girls serving were awful and the coffee was awful - no choices. Americans might like hot brown water but I do not. The rest was standard hot plate not cooked to order. I'm glad work was paying for my stay as I would not ever recommend this hotel for the price it charges. It thinks by being in Kensington it can get away with this standard. Not recommended.

Very nice hotel in a great location.

The hotel was huge, so an awful lot of people staying there. But considering this, the staff were very friendly and helpful and always had time for you.

The room was a bit on the small side, but very modern and clean and just what we was looking for to use as a base for a busy few days in London.

Its location was fantastic. 2mins walk from the nearest tube, and 5mins from Hyde Park. We walked from the hotel all the way to Buckingham Palace one morning through Hyde Park and it was great!

Didn’t use the Spa facilities so cannot comment on those, however breakfast was always good there considering the amount of people they were catering for, and we used the bar on a couple of nights. This was a little pricey, but only what you would expect from a hotel bar in London, so no complaints.

Overall a nice, modern, friendly hotel, in a great location and ideal for somewhere to start and end a busy London day.

Room Tip: Room not very big so if you like a bit more space might be worth to pay a little extra for an upgrad...

The single room was lovely. Very modern and well designed.
Close to lots of shops and eateries on the High St, and 2 minutes from the tube.
Check in was slow, as were the 2 small lifts. If you turn away from those lifts and go through the door there's a faster, newer lift. Don't tell everyone, else they'll all use it lol.

This large hotel is in a good location near Kensington High Street and Tube. Reception impressive and spacious. Only two small lifts in lobby which take forever. Room was classed as a standard double. You have to climb over the bed to open/close the curtains as you can not walk around it. Tiny bathroom and air conditioning ineffective. In many of these rooms the desk is right up against bed which meant there was a high corner for guests to bump there heads on if you look up during the night. I did this and split my head open. I informed reception the next day and received an email offering me an upgrade next time - an unacceptable response.

Room Tip: stay elsewhere

The hotel is near kensington high street. That is good for shopping but made finding taxis in the morning very difficult. The doorman sent me to walk to the high street as there were lots of people waiting (I am slightly disabled and this was not ideal) but it was 40 minutes later and a long walk before I could hail one. My room was upgraded but it was still very small and the bathroom was miniscule- I would have hated to see a standard room. There was a very large set need out of the small bath. Everything was clean and the public rooms were very pleasant. I was really disappointed however that the swimming pool incurred and extra charge as did the wi-fi. This made what looked like a really good bargain much more expensive. I don't expect add on costs. The difficulty with taxis at the time needed to get to meetings made it somewhere i wouldnt readily use on business. (I cant cope with the tube- if you can the hotel is very close to the circle line).

stayed here on a business trip in April 13, room 1015, small but comfortable. TV, single bed, bath, shower head above bath. Quiet (most importantly) at nights as it's at the back of the hotel. The bar and reception area are very nice - staff are so helpful and eager to serve you as soon as you attract their attention. 5 minute walk from a main street in London where there are main stream shops, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. Breakfast is a buffet style, plenty of choice, lovely food! I didn't take advantage of room service or the spa/gym, but I would definitely go back!

I was in Room 269 from 15th - 19th April.
Check-in process was slow. They didn't have my room type available.
For such a huge reception area, it seems there are only 2 lifts in the foyet so there always seemed to be a queue for the lift.....really slow lifts!
My card didn't work the first time so I had to go back to reception.
The room is small to average in size. The decor is bland and outdated.
There seemed to be air conditioning but I couldn't find the thermostat !
The light entering the room constantly hummed.
The extractor in the bathroom is loud so don't turn on the light during the night if you need to use the toilet.
The shower is powerful but the shower curtain was small so I had to dry the floor after each shower.
The TV has plenty of channels
The price was £118.80 per night but they charge an additional £8 pounds to use their pool.
As a matter of principle I chose not to take advantage of their kind offer.....disappointing that the one thing that justifies using their hotel and they want to charge you extra for it.
The wireless isn't free either so you have to pay £9.95 per 24hr.
The food was good and the staff are friendly and attentive.
To be honest, for the comfort that is evident when you arrive at the hotel, I can't understand why they charge more for the worthwhile benefits whilst allowing their guests sleep in 1970's style rooms.
It's unusual for a hotel of such pedigree not to have an iron in the room but this was the case here and I had to wait 20 minutes for an iron and ironing board to be brought to my room.
I normally try and gauge what type of traveler a hotel suits but I'm struggling here......perhaps American or Japanese tourists!
I can't quite put my finger on it......but altogether, it's lacking the finishing touches to make me, as a business traveler choose to return.
