“Great location, nice furnishings, relaxing bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights in late July. I had booked the hotel via Priceline in a bid and got it for around £100 a night for a Friday and Saturday in a 5 star hotel. The winning feature of this hotel is the location - it is right on the Thames, across from Westminster and also near to Waterloo train/underground. It is a perfect venue for sightseeing in London with much in walking distance - people forget just how walkable London is and you see so much more than commuting underground.

The hotel entrance and seating area is very nice. Check-in was a bit slow with only one person on. However, she tried her best to get through us as quickly as possible. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the Jubilee Gardens and the room was very comfortable and spacious. We had a huge kingsize bed and 2 comfy chairs. The room and the bathroom was very clean and the furnishings were of a high quality. The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise from outside the hotel.

We spent quite a lot of time at the end of the day and before we went to bed at night in the bar. The drinks are fairly expensive but this is what we expect from London. We ate from the Supper Menu on one of the nights which was great because we could mix and match traditional English plates of food in snack sizes.

All staff were generally cheerful, helpful and helpful.

All in all, a good quality hotel in a great location.

As soon as you drive through the courtyard of calm, you feel that you are some where special in the heart of the capital.Check in was smooth, and was as requested. It was my wife's birthday , and I had booked afternoon tea, along with the eye ( recommend fast track). Our room was spacious, and had absolutely outstanding views of Big Ben, and the Eye.We were on the executive floor with access to the lounge.( worth visiting between 6pm-8pm only ) when a Selection of alcoholic drinks are avaliable.
The afternoon tea was a great choice, (lots to eat ) and added to our two days away, with our 7 year old son.

All the staff we met were very helpful, and friendly, from the man who took the car away for two days, the chap in the executive lounge, the afternon tea host , and the lady at reception , excellent customer service.

The breakfast in the restaurant was very well presented, and tasty,a little formal perhaps, and I preferred the exec breakfast the following day, ( just as good ), but a lot more relaxed

The room was on the 4th floor
Surprisingly quiet the double glazing works well, and can be opened easily for the full big Ben experiance.

Finally
I would totally recommend the hotel, the position was fantastic, just be aware though the area surrounding the hotel is extremely busy , so be prepared once you leave the hotel you are back in the hussle and bustle of London.

Also be warned there was a lot of street vendors ( not local) who were Ripping tourists off with the three cup, and a pea trick, along Westminster bridge .This is a con, and I witnessed several people parting with their much earned cash to these crooks.
Do not think you can win, as it is rigged.

Room Tip: Executive room level 4 room 426 was very great, Views Awesome !

This hotel lies back off the road, you approach it through a long archway, where taxies drive up to the hotel. There is a large 'roundabout' at the front of the hotel, which when we went at Christmas was covered in large baubles and presents, all lit up, very attractive.

The hotel inside was very nice, and the room we had our company Christmas Lunch in was great, with a lovely view. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I cannnot comment on the bedrooms as I did not stay there.

This hotel was used for a couple of scenes in Eastenders recently. It is very close to the London Eye and other attractions.

We had a wonderful visit to London staying at the Marriott. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Restaurant staff extremely friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. We had a river view which was fab. Other people have said it was noisy. We didn't find this at all. We found it very quiet. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: River view, but ask not to be in front of the London Eye as you will be on view to everyone!

The location of the Marriott is very well situated if you plan to do a lot of walking as we did. The room itself was average, and as others have mentioned, it's quite a walk to the lobby from many of the rooms. We were lucky to have a river/London Eye view, which was beautiful at night. Wi-fi is expensive - and they charge for each device used. We were offered the breakfast/Wi-fi package which saved us quite a bit. For all coffee-lovers, Starbucks is right across the street. There is also a nice-sized pharmacy located in Waterloo, which is only a 10 minute walk. It came in handy, as we were there during the heat-wave and had a hard time finding sunscreen anywhere else. The staff is outstanding - everyone we interacted with was extremely helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the lobby to avoid a lot of walking

We felt like we were sleeping in the room above the Queen. What style and elegance! What a view!!! Our room was on the sixth floor with a balcony overlooking the Eye, Thames, Big Ben and Parliament. Phenomenal...

The staff was extremely professional and very attentive to our needs. We were staying next door at the Premier Inn for the week, but with England in the throws of a heat wave and the Premier Inn not having air conditioning, we opted over to the Marriott for our final two nights. Very expensive but worth very penny just in the good nights rest and the view. Next time I will not mess around but rather head straight to the Marriott London County Hall.

Room Tip: Room 620 - great view with a balcony!!!

I will start with the pros of staying at this property - location, location, location. This hotel is along the river bank, next to the London Eye, and directly across the river from Big Ben, Parliament and within walking distance to Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The location allowed us to limit cab fees and trips on the metro. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful, and the atmosphere in the library where we ate breakfast and the lobby was very nice.

The cons - the hotel was an old parliament building and it is not situated to have rooms close and convenient to the elevators. Our room was very far from the lobby. In fact, we walked the entire length of the hotel. It was very frustrating when you forgot something. It was more than 10 minute fast walk to the room and back. The rooms were fine, but not as nice as other rooms I have stayed. The beds were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the elevators or you may walk a great distance.
