“Close to Portobello Market”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It was my first time staying in Doubletree in London as I stayed in Hilton Hyde Park down the road the last time. My first impression was better than Hilton Hyde Park as it gave me a feeling of brightness compared to the latter. Other hotels were dark and old especially in London hotels, but the hotel lobby is bright and clean cut. The check in area was a bit cramp though.

Location was great as it was in between 2 tube stations. Opposite was the Kensington Gardens, good for strolls and Portobello Market was just 5-10 mins walk. There were many eateries around too.

Room was average. Eventhough I was put in the Hilton Honors floor, the view was just shrubs and concrete. I always requested high floor and i was surprised that Hilton Honors floor was in the 3rd floor instead of 5th floor. I should think the 5th floor has better view. But the bed were very comfortable and I had a good sleep on it.

Breakfast was simple and good. The cafe that served breakfast had a good ambience.

The only set back was there were a group of people talking loudly at the corridor past 12 midnight and people tend not to close their room door gently and therefore you will hear a lot of door slamming at different times. Can be pretty annoying. Some hotels are ok. I guess must be the structure of the door.

Overall, I would give this hotel a miss the next time as after this hotel, I went further down the road and stayed at Hilton Kensington Park which I will review soon. This was a much better hotel to stay.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two nights while on a trip to London. Check in was smooth and our room was just right. We had breakfast both mornings which was lovely. From a full English breakfast to pastries, cereal and yogurt. Check out was also smooth and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout to collect later on in the day.
The hotel is perfectly situated with Queensway and Bayswater tube stations a very short walk away.
We would defiantly stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in central London.

Location:
The DoubleTree London Hyde Park is located across from Kensington Gardens in a relatively quiet area.

Three tube stations are within a reasonable walking distance, the closest is Queensway on the Central Line (approx. 4 min), the other two a little further away are Notting Hill Gate (Central Line) and Bayswater (District and Circle Lines). There some small shops and a few restaurants close by. The only downside is you are a little away from having everything on your doorstep, but not too far away.

Check-in:
Quick and efficient and the warm welcome cookie is a really nice touch.

Room:
Quite compact but clean and well presented. Room has all the usual features that you would expect and more; another nice touch was the Nespresso coffee machine with 3 capsules (though the number of mini milk pots provided were insufficient). The use of 'trees in a park' wallpaper also helped to make the room feel bigger than what it was - nice. The room was at the rear of the hotel and was very quiet.

Air Conditioning:
I had in fact selected this hotel over another, for its air conditioning, given that it was forecast to be one of the hottest weekends of the year, and London in that type of heat can be unbearable. It was therefore a great disappointment to find on entering the room the system was not working. It was not until late evening that thankfully the air conditioning was restored, otherwise it would have been unbearable. Breakdowns will occur I guess, just unfortunate it was one of the hottest days of the year!

Bathroom:
Very clean with toiletries provided, as well as a facecloth though this went missing on day 2 and could not be replaced as apparently there had not been a delivery. Water was nice and hot for a shower.

Wi-Fi:
Free in-room Wi-Fi (all hotels should be like this).

Breakfast:
Reasonable selection and of a good quality. Restaurant light and airy, with a nice seating area outdoors. Pleasant staff.

Check-out:
Friendly and polite.

Overall: Recommended:
Obtained a room in the Hilton Summer Sale and felt that it offered value for money. This hotel has a winning formula and some nice extra touches.

From the time you walk through the front door until you leave everything is what you would like in a hotel. The lobby is clean, staff is friendly and helpful, cookies you receive upon arrival are warm and delicious(nice to have with a cup of tea). Our room was clean and neat overlooking Kensington Gardens, a bus stops almost right outside the door going in both directions. Close to grocery stores and Tube Station. We are already planning to return in November for one week.

The hotel was very nice. We were not far from Bayswater and Queensway tube stops. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Bathrooms were a bit small, but okay. They served a very nice breakfast buffet. I would go here again.
