“Compact but Perfect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Upon arrival at this hotel my heart sank - in the middle of a renovation project the outside looked a wreck and the reception / lounge area was little bette ...but what a suprise lay behind the bedroom door. The room was immaculate - soft bouncy carpets, comfortable bed, giant flatscreen TV and Nespresso coffee machine. The staff were polite and breakfast was fresh an plentiful. The bar prices were extortionate but, I suppose, normal for a London hotel.
The hotel was ideally located for Ealing but the journey into central London became a bit tedious over the weekend, particularly as the nearest tube station was closed for line rennovation. This wouldn't put me off a return visit.

This is some sort of junior Hilton, currently being refurbished, and one or two who have experienced the new rooms like them. They must be easily pleased. The management are less than scrupulous when advising guests who book that the hotel is in a state of dusty, noisy chaos, with only a horrible function room as the temporary breakfast area, and an equally grim, low-ceilinged 'hospitality' room as a (grotesquely overpriced) bar. I was quoted £289 for a room! With no mention of the building works. For that price one could be comfortable in Paris or Rome. Or even London, because Ealing and the North Circular - foreigners beware - are hardly central. The culture at this grim Stalinist bunker is one of 'charge what the mug will pay'. Most are not paying themselves. The place survives on corporate contracts - with the BBC and Carphone Warehouse for example. They may get a better rate, but I question whether the Beeb should be spending public money here. Even if they get a huge room discount the cost to the taxpayer of their executives' drinks bill will double the National Debt. £4.50 for a SMALL glass of wine (très ordinaire), and £4.20 for a pint of lager!

Room Tip: A good room is a misnomer.

This hotel is undergoing renovation so there was some noise during the day, but the workers finish at 6pm. When I did encounter the builders whilst in the hotel I have to say that they were so polite, opening doors etc.
From the outside the hotel just looks like a drab concrete tower block but inside the rooms are very good and the staff are helpful.
I was in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was very nice with a huge TV, ipod/iPad dock and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was compact and only had a shower but was fitted out to a very good standard. I had a meal at the bar from the daytime menu and have to say that the burger and chips was definitely worth the £14 - really excellent quality. Was initially only given a code for 30 minutes of free internet but when I went back to the desk later in the day I was given a free code for £30.00. There isn't much room to sit in the bar due to the renovations and as I seemed to be the only female sitting downstairs I spent most of my evening working in my room.
Overall, really good value for money and easy to get to from Kings Cross.

Room Tip: Rooms on the fourth floor appear to have been renovated - 431 was a nice double room though the bath...

We were supposed to be staying in a renovated room, at least it looked like a renovated room. But the room had mold in it. When booked, we requested an allergy room. So the whole time spent there (luckily not much of the weekend), I had trouble breathing and a constant headache. For breakfast, we asked in advance for some gluten-free bread but our wish had not been noticed.

But the positive side of the hotel is that it's located nicely when coming from Heathrow and the tube stations are near. Also there's a small shopping centre nearby if one doesn't want to go all the way to Oxford Street or to Westfield.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.

Currently undergoing renovations, this hotel is keeping busy offering a fantastic 2 night stay with dinner and breakfast through Groupon - we were therefore prepared for some noise and disruption. On the other hand, the staff are lovely, the breakfasts are fantastic and the rooms/loos are compact and perfectly formed. Ipod dock, low lighting, lovely toiletries, a little fridge, comfy bed, quiet air-con, a NESPRESSO coffee maker!!! If, like me, you appreciate your coffee, then you will miss this little darling most of all. We were able to park our car on site for a tenner a night and forget about it, because Ealing Common tube station is 2 mins walk away.. maybe 30 mins max on a train to get you into the West End. We went out late on one evening and called a local cab firm for a quote...just 25 quid to collect us from London centre and bring us back to the hotel at 3am (this is something of a bargain). Overall a great experiece I would reccommend and also repeat.

Room Tip: Hard to say what rooms are best at the moment as you will hear the building work noise on lower leve...

The Hotel will be Doubletree By Hilton soon. The renovated rooms are perfect i really enjoyed it. Ipod docking station, Espresso machine, Minibar, a huge Samsung smart TV in the room. Breakfast was good too, many variety. Except for the renovation , they switched the entrance. But i'm sure when it's done it will be great. Wish to keep the good rates.

We stayed here from a Friday to the Sunday, last year.
We used to stay here when it was the Ramada Ealing hotel.
When we arrived we did notice that building work was being carried out, however this did not disturb us at all, while we stayed here.
On arrival the receptionist informed us of the building work, and explained the restaurant times, etc etc. Very polite and proffessional. The check in process was compelted very quickly.
The room we thought looked smaller than before, but then my husband advised that we used to book the deluxe room, inwhich is bigger than a normal double room.
Our room was over looking the car park, and was very near to the lobby.
Room very clean, comfy, bathroom clean but in need of a refurb, (hence all builders there)
We did not use the restaurant, as we used this hotel as a base only.
You have 2 tube station in Ealing. One being only a 4 minute walk, other being a little further but is near to the high street. (10-15mins walk)
Ealing is a lovely town, with plenty of good shops. bars and eating places.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
We would like to thank the young man who was on reception when we checked out, he kindly helped us with the car parking machine.... sorry that i did not take your name,
We would stay here, due to the location and due to the fact we have stayed here previously, we know where to go etc etc,
Excellent

Room Tip: non-smoking rooms
