Walking along the Inverness Terrace, towards the hotel, the mesmerizing view of identical Victorian townhouses stretching as far as the eye could see, makes you feel like an actress out of an old British movie…. You know; rows of white buildings with high ceilings, tall windows and columned gates, lined up almost for eternity…. Typical London….
This grand, historical, romantic and Victorian exterior blends in with the ultra-modern, chic and luxurious interior of La Suite West, as soon as you step in its doors. It’s a design hotel par excellence: the reception is welcoming with a contemporary fire place, the corridors are seductive with dim lights and dark walls, the rooms are coolly designed with a touch of Zen; such as the thick, black, wood windows shades or the tasteful canopy bed, providing a ‘royal’ detail :)
Marble bathroom with under-floor heating and waterfall-effect shower, was a pure delight. Extremely comfortable bed, stylish kitchenette, a small desk & chair, high-quality tea & coffee products, complimentary magazines &newspapers, an Ipod dock on top of a sleek radio and a daybed, elegantly located near the window for pleasure reading with ample light, all added to the feeling of ‘bliss’. All in all, a very well equipped room with high-quality materials and ‘nice touches’. Plus, everywhere we turn was spotless clean. The quietness of the place and pleasantness of our surrounding was so relaxing that, at one point we even thought of enjoying our Paddington Room rather than exploring London!
When we finally decide to move on, we were pleasantly surprised (once again) that La Suite West was just a few steps down the Bayswater Underground station. How convenient for a tiresome city like London! If you are willing for walk just 3 minutes, you are at the Queensway Underground station, a part of the Red Line running through the heart of London.
Oh, have I mentioned the breakfast? La Suite West had, by far, the most extensive and delicious breakfast included in the room price. I mean, what you usually get as ‘breakfast’ in city hotels would be like a sorry Continental with sad cereals. Not in La Suite West. The delicious “Full English Breakfasts” had stayed with us well into the late afternoon.
To cut it short, this 4-star city-central design hotel is a contemporary oasis in the midst of London’s Victorian neighborhood… Highly recommended!
