“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

Had a wonderful stay, nothing was too much trouble, checked in early, checked out late with no issues. Booking the reservation as a special occasion (Investiture) through central reservations was a little long winded but we did get a free night, so worth it in the end. The room (rooms; we had three in total) was compact but well appointed and spotless. From the moment we arrived to be greeted by the doormen the level of service was faultless. A little out of our comfort zone in a 5 star hotel we were made to feel very welcome and didn't feel out of place. We ate in the Cookbook Café on the first night, superb meal, reasonably priced (for London), excellent presentation and very tasty. We used the bar on both nights, again outstanding service (though with a service charge for everything), some great cocktails (try the Poor Mans Punch), a nice place to relax and from observation clearly a good place to conduct business meetings. The most memorable event was Afternoon Tea in the Wellington Lounge - unforgettable - we had the Royal Tea - outstanding. Breakfast was excellent, with a vast array of choices. The Concierge desk were great, reception staff very helpful and everyone we spoke to (including the domestic staff we met in the corridor) was so friendly and polite. Minor gripes; as a special occasion and booked as such, a free glass of champagne wouldn't have gone amiss, but the most annoying thing was the WiFi charge (min £15 a day) - unnecessary in this day and age. No it wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you're planning a special occasion/visit to London, I recommend that you treat yourself to a stay in this hotel and do it in style.

Room Tip: Win the lottery!

Stayed here for 5 nights for board meetings. Beautiful facility, top to bottom. You are definitely paying a premium for the location but how can you beat being across the street from Green Park and less than 5 minutes from tea with the Queen?

Staff was high end. Food was very nice and included a lot of light options which is nice when you are glued to a chair all day. Excellent nightlife right around the corner in Shepherd's market.

Great experience all the way around.

My Fiance and I were able to pick up a great last minute deal to stay here while we were in London for a concert at the O2. First impressions were excellent, the lobby was spacious and perfectly clean/tidy. Check in went without a hitch and took a few minutes max, during this time we were also informed of the restaurants available in the hotel and the surrounding area as we were looking for somehwhere for dinner. The room was spacious and had everything you would want or need, there was also no problems with cleanliness or tired looking decor as it was lovely. The decor of the room (Classic Double King) was personally a little dated as it was more of a classic style but that was our personal opinion.

We took dinner at the Theo Randall Italian inside the restaurant as it was highly recommended ,which we expected it to be as it was in the hotel, but it really was lovely. The Pasta was fresh and the cooking was homely but with a great quality. £60 for 2 mains, 2 alcoholic drinks and service was fine.

When we returned at 11pm (ish) that night after our concert the room had been tidied and cleaned and again no fault could be found. The bed was large and comfortable but most importantly very clean. A complimentary newspaper was left outside our room in the morning which I could read as my Fiance takes forever to get ready. The view out of the window, as we had an inner room, showed the courtyard/centre of the hotel which was a bit drab, and the proximity to some other windows was a little unnerving as a businessman conducted calls naked at his desk with the curtains open.

Over all a fantastic hotel with a fantastic location for any stay in London.

Just had a wonderful weekend here. Ever time you walk through the door, a wonderful welcome, both appropriately formal and relaxed at the same time. This hotel feels like an old friend. Lovely decor, and has a modern but still classic feel. the 7th floor club room well worth the extra, a very good breakfast is served, as well as canapés, afternoon tea etc. Excellent service and standards without being overly stuffy or complicated.

I recently stayed for a 2 night business trip, The hotel is perfectly located and was just fine for what i needed.
I was pleasantly surprised by my bedroom - whilst small it was very comfortable and cosy and had a good view over Hyde Park Corner and importantly was very quiet. The bed was comfortable, the linen good etc. The bathroom was on the small side and had only a bathtub though it did have a rain-shower head which was good.
I had room-service for breakfast both mornings and each morning this arrived 20 minutes earlier than requested. I asked why and the reply was that "when we are busy we serve people as soon as possible". OK this is fine but I prefer to be awake and showered before receiving room service and 20 minutes early is not top service.
Check-in was fine albeit very "automated" with the standard "hotel-chain" questions - I have no problem with that but the receptionist should have sounded at least "genuine" rather than just "computerised" in his questions.
The check-out guy asked me the same question 3 times (the question was "do you have a busy day ahead"). These automatic questions they ask in these hotel chains are fine but at least listen to the response that the clients give - the third time I politely told him that he had asked the question twice before and he still did not seem to registar the reply. He was English as i as well so language was no barrier. I find it annoying and impersonal but i guess that is the case with large hotel chains.
That said the overall service was good.
