“Everything you could need a stones throw from everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Recently stayed in the Crowne Plaza for a 2 night stay in London. This is a fabulous Hotel, very well priced within the london market, in a great location right beside Gloucester Rd tube station, on a direct tube from Heathrow. Our room had 2 double beds which were exceptionally comfortable. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom with complimentary toiletries to cater for your every need even a hairdryer and iron. They gave 2 bottles of complimentary water per day which was a nice touch. The hotel was quiet no disturbances at all. My only quibble was the mandatory mini bar charge on checkin which will only be credited back after your departure. if i hadn't brought a credit card i'm not sure how this would have been handled. Seasoned travellers have told me i should have asked for it to be emptied and not paid the deposit at all. The hotel bar was nice but there was no drinks menu which was strange, maybe they were updating it but it meant we stuck to what we knew rather than being a bit more adventurous, if they'd had a cocktail menu we probably would have tried some!
Breakfast starts at 730am so if you're heading off on an early tour you can't get breakfast before that so make sure you stop off at the Waitross across the road or there are many coffee places near the tube station that can provide an early breakfast. The inhouse Asian restuarant was fab and the staff were lovely.
Would definitely stay again its a little gem

Room Tip: We choose a high floor and there wasn't a sound!

Dear klur12
Thank you for your review of our hotel, I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your time with us.
The minibar deposit you refer to is actually a retention on your credit card for any charges you make to your room, which can include minibar charges but could also be room service, dry cleaning, restaurant charges etc. This charge is not money actually takem from your credit card, it is just a claim on the credit card so that the funds are available to pay for any charges when you check out. If there are no charges, this claim is released. Guests are not obliged to do this but would otherwise not be able to charge any expenses to their room and would need to pay cash for each service as they took it, which can be inconvenient. I apologise if this was not properly explained to you.
With regards breakfast, we start serving at 6.30 on weekdays and a slightly later start at weekends, although room service breakfast is available at any time 24 hours a day.
Best regards

Spent three nights here and I can honestly say that the hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. I was immediately recognised as a PCR member and received a room upgrade plus free wifi. Staff were all very pleasant and efficient and were always eager to help.
Room was at the front which I thought would be noisy, but the window had double glazing and secondary glazing so there was actually almost no noise from the traffic outside. The bed was huge and the room and bathroom were clean and in excellent condition.
Breakfast was extensive with a good choice of cold and cooked food and staff again very efficient. We never actually ate in the restaurant but had a meal on two occasions in the lounge area which proved to be excellent with a good menu choice and very helpful staff.
As far as the location of the hotel goes, it's only two minutes from Gloucester Road tube and the Natural History Museum, V&A and Harrods about a further ten minutes. It has a large garden area at the back which for central London, is unusual and I would imagine in the summer it will be a very pleasant place to have a drink and a meal.
All in all, a very pleasant stay, but it's the staff that really makes a place enjoyable to stay in and I give top marks to them all.

Stayed here for one night. Had 2 rooms to sleep 5. We had a room with 2 double beds, very spacious, clean hotel. Our room was on the front of the hotel on the main road, apart from a car playing there music to loud driving past at night the room was very quiet. Bed was comfy. Breakfast selection was small compared to othet hotels i've stayed in but still managed a good full english. The hotel is perfectly located for Gloucester Road tube, literally a stones throw from the hotel. You can walk down to Harrods and the Natural History Museum in about 15 mins. Overall very good hotel.

Dear Vemula
Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay. I am delighted to read that you will stay with us again.
Our breakfast does offer a wide choice of hot and cold dishes, although we display them in smaller dishes that are regularly replensihed with fresh food rathere than have large quantities that sit on the buffet for long periods.
Best regards.

We usually stay in a different area of London and this was our firsty visit. The hotel is a good location, 2 mins walk from the tube and also a Waitrose and Boots very near, plus a number of cafes and restaurants. The bedroom was not noisy at all. It was about a 10 mins walk from the natural history museum. All the staff were very nice. The room was nice and clean. We had a room with 2 beds in, as we stayed with our 3 year old daughter. The bathroom was nice and shower good. The breakfast was amazing, worth the money, one of the best I have had in a hotel. Would stay again.

The main argument for staying at Crowne Placa Kensingtin is that from here everything is near. The tube is just outside the hotel and takes you to and from Heathrow fast and easy, and to all other places you want to visit in London. It is also easy to return to the hotel for a rest. That was a great advantage for us. Around the tube is some restaurant and food shops. The hotel itself is nice with fairly large rooms and good service, but nothing special.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the front (road) is surprisingly silent, but if you are very sensitive to any sort...

Dear ogd71
Thank you for your review of our hotel. It's great that you appreciated our location which is so convenient for getting around London by tube or bus as well as being within walking distance of Harrods and the main museums.
I'm sorry you thought that the hotel itself was nothing special apart from the larger than average room sizes - I hope you will return again so that we can show you how special we are, particularly our staff who go out of their way to help guests enjoy their stay.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Reception were doing a little draw for guests. My son chose an envelope with an hours free wi-fi. He was really pleased! The receptionist was so kind and gave us a code for the whole weekend making one 12 year old very happy!

We were in a club room, overlooking the garden. The room was spacious and well equipped, fridge, iron and ironing board, safe dressing gowns and slippers!

We had access to the club lounge, which offered tea and cold drinks throughout the day, drinks an canapés 6-8pm and breakfast each morning. The club lounge staff where brilliant and could not do enough for you.

On the first night my son and I ordered room service. The service was great, arrived quickly, served with a friendly smile and food was delicious.

The staff at this hotel from reception, club lounge, room service and the housekeeping lady we met when dropped shopping back in the room excel at customer service.

The hotel is in a great location moments from Gloucester Road tube station. From there in a couple of stops you can get to Portobello Road market or Leicester Square. There are lots of local places to eat or drink and a Waitrose right across from the hotel.

Overall this hotel is brilliant, the customer service here is amongst the best we have had. It's located in a safe neighbourhood with lots to do locally and easy access to central London and the West End. I would highly recommend this hotel and upgrading to a club room is worth every penny. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.
