“Place great, staff not so much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Hotel in ok location, clean but a bit of a 'tired' style in rooms. 10 min walk approx. for tube. Staff not happy to be there obviously but I'm happy with the price I paid so didn't expect anything exceptional.

I recently went here to stay after watching Channel 4 Comedy Gala. The hotel is lovely but the staff are completely horrid!
I booked online and found a very good rate and added extra's for £198.
I paid and a few days later called to confirm the payment had gone through, and that all the extras had been added. Everything was paid for and i even had conformation which i printed out from the email.
However the staff at the hotel refused to give me the extras because i apparently "had not paid" despite showing them the confirmation and their print out showed it was paid for too. They forced me to pay again or they would remove and not allow me them despite having my money already.
Complete and utter rip off only wanting money!
It took three hours for them to come to their senses when i threatened to get a lawyer and they listened to the recording of my confirmation that everything was paid for.

I did get a refund however none of the staff said they were sorry for this inconvenience. I didnt the bottle of wine "which was an extra" free as a sorry for the inconvenience.

Not the best staff and will not be staying here again in the future. Put me off completely from now on. They've shown they care more about money than customer service..

Clean and spacious rooms but interior is old style and worn.
WiFi in room was not working as signal strength was too weak and one has to go to lobby for good strength of signals.
10 min walk to nearest tube station Canary Wharf.
Staff was soft spoken and cooperative.
The variety of breakfast was not up to mark and taste can be much better.
Best thing was Indian restaurant Spice, which is great taste and value for money.

Stayed as a couple for 2 nights 7/8th June 2013. Having read the other reviews we tend to agree the rooms are a little dated/tired and due for refurbishment but have no complaints about our stay. Our large room was clean was comfortable for the 2 nights we stayed and the breakfast was all we wanted although was a bit of a "scrum" at times and were waiting for fried eggs to be brought out on one morning but only waited a minute or so not an issue really. Hotel was great location and we used travel concessions (£8 a day) to use buses or tube to get about. We were offered a river view at check in with no extra charge even though we were on a "TravelZoo" special deal. Staff were generally none native English speakers and staff on check on were difficult to understand first time speaking but again not a complaint because we understood all at the end of the day. Nice lounge to look over the docks area was a bonus for evening drink or coffee. For the price we paid for Bed and Breakfast was very pleased and would stay again under same deal. Would not want to pay the full amount as advertised at reception due for the need for hotel refurbishment.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the harbour area as redevelopment across road is taking place at front of...

Short tube ride to Greenwich and the O2, this a great location. It is much more reasonably priced than surroundng hotels. Has an old style to it's decor, but tjat's not a bad thing. Could see Tower Bridge from the 11th floor so tjat was pretty great. Stayed in the suite with jacuzzi. Pipes aren't the best, but ok. For the price I would expect breakfast, but this is extra and better coffee isupplied in the room. Very friendly staff. Had the Do Not Disturb sign up and staff entered as they thought there was leaking water. That staff member should have done more to ensure she didn't open the door while soneone wad there. Very apologetic, probably a new person, otherwise it would have been unprofessional. In all 3 room, shower is over bath which I think shouuld be,specified. Overall, would stay again at the right price.

Room clean decor slightly worn, most staff very nice, building work taking place outside very good location for 02 arena. One stop on train. Shopping centre near buy. Good eating places along the docklands. When weather permits its nice to walk along the water ways.

Room Tip: Ask if any free upgrades are available

Went here on a 4 night break with my mum and daughter. On arrival the reception area is very clean and spacious. Fast check in. The rooms are very spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The room and the bathroom were clean and tidy, with the usual toiletries and clean towels.

The furniture was a bit scuffed, however this did not affect our stay.

We went with Caledonia Travel and it was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and as much coffee or tea as you wanted.

Dinner was included in their carvery type restaurant, this was not good. The soup was tasteless and the vegetables were like mush. The joint of meat each night was good, but that's all that was good. Can't complain too much as it was a very reasonably priced trip.

Close enough for the tube or over ground train, which made all of the London attractions very accessible.
