“Great potential, delivery lets it down with simple mistakes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

The hotel looks great, had some phone discussion with Guest Services earlier in the day, couldn't have been more helpful. However, upon arriving, the room which was booked as a triple, with single beds as show in the lovely photo was just one double bed. Took an absolute age for the hotel to deal with this and even then, they still didn't provide the three beds so one of us ended up on a folding bed, not what we paid for. Wrote in to complain and the hotel didn't even have the courtesy to respond.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter what you book, they will ignore it anyway

We have just spent the weekend at this hotel and can't really fault it, we had a corner suite which looked out over Tower Bridge, The suite was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and even my daughter had a good nights sleep on the roll out bed. We weren't affected by any noise from the street or from inside the hotel. All the staff were very approachable and friendly and we were blown away by the views from the sky lounge. The breakfast was good - lots of choice, although I'm glad we went down early as a queue had started to form by about 8.45am. Great location for getting around the city, the river bus stops at Tower Millenium pier which is a just few minutes walk from the hotel and is a good way of getting around if you don't like the tube. Would certainly stay again.

We just left this hotel after a 5 night stay. Honestly one of the nicest Hilton properties we've been at. Our room was spotless and bed was comfy (the pillows were rock hard but we're finding that throughout the UK.) The staff was courteous and helpful.

We had breakfast every morning on the property at the City Cafe. What a fabulous staff of servers they have. We were greeting every morning with a big welcoming smile and a happy "Good Morning". They all genuinely seemed happy to see us. Since I must eat gluten free, they happily served me gluten free toast every morning along with eggs. My husband ate from the breakfast buffet and was very pleased with the quality and selection of food. The coffee was hot and good.

We visitied the Sky Lounge one evening. Great view of the city. Drinks are pricey and the music is loud. It's worth the ride up to the 12th floor if to do nothing else but check out the view.

The location of the hotel was great for us as well. Right on top of the Tower of London and The Tower Bridge (save your money, see my review for that) and a convinent place to catch the hop on hop off bus tour.

Yep, we'd stay here again!

This is a very nice and modern hotel and hence hotel. It only opened a couple of years ago and hence all is clean and very nicely made. I like the Apple Computer in the rooms that can be used for internet surfing or TV etc. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent for the city and located near the Tower Hill tube station. Can only recommend this hotel

3 night stay at Hotel the day after our wedding prior to our honeymoon 2 months later. At check in upgraded to a Kings Suite thanks to Hilton Honours, reception staff knew it was our mini moon and congratulated us both on arrival. KIng's Suite was fantastic, bedroom, bathroom, separate toilet/washroom, large lounge dining area with huge Apple Mac TV and 2 mega comfy modern rocking chairs, free mini bar and snacks. Great choice of food at breakfast with something available to suit all diets, good on site eating choices for snacks or meals, Sky lounge offers wine and cocktails in a unique environment looking out over London excellent. Good location at Tower Bridge, tube station 5 minutes walk from hotel, would definitely stay here again on our next trip to London. Hotel provided a bottle of wine, chocolates and a card on our 2nd night which was a very nice touch, thanks to all who made our trip special.

Room Tip: Hilton honours membership benefits with room upgrade when available

Please take time to read all of this honest review albeit a little lengthy. This is our 4th visit, we initially visited when it was owned by Mint, and it just gets better with each visit since the change to Double Tree. Firstly we would like to tell everyone about the exceptional excellent team of staff who work there. Everyone at front of house seems to have a pleasant smile for all guests and nothing is too much trouble despite the challenges’ they are asked to resolve. One member of staff who outshines all is the Reception Manager Christian; he is one in a million, a truly amazing guy. During our last stay he demonstrated the ultimate in customer relations beyond belief nothing was too much trouble, and this was reflected down his chain of command. We experienced his kindness and professionalism through a difficult family time during our stay. His thoughtfulness and supportive care was above and beyond his call of duty. During our stay we also unfortunately experienced a fire alarm, however I can reassure all potential visitors to this hotel the conduct of the staff during this event was so professional we felt extremely safe, in our opinion they executed the evacuation in a cool calm manor, the fire marshal and her team kept everything under control and continued to support the guests during the whole evacuation, this procedure has obviously been practiced over and over again to work like ‘clockwork’. I guess having ‘test’ fire alarms helps this procedure work and can sometimes be inconvenient for guests but will enhance evacuation in the event of a real fire!!!!.This is the type of things that help you choose a hotel and determine if it is good or not, this hotel is better than good. During our visits we have stayed in a variety of rooms, suite 855 is the best (THANKS). All of the rooms are great, spacious well equipped all with modern kit and more than you’ll need, there’s lots of room reviews, and so we’ll not go into much detail. The breakfast is yummy, the staff in the restaurant extremely pleasant and helpful. During our stay they accommodated a late diner visit request when perhaps normally the restaurant would have closed; again demonstrating whatever time of day, the staff is dedicated to customer care and satisfaction, thanks. Location of the hotel is also a bonus; it is out of the loud city but close enough to jump on a tube just outside of the hotel and into the bright city lights. Once you’ve visited the sky lounge you’ll not want to go into the city too often the views are amazing.
If Double Tree by Hilton has a scheme for Employee or Team of the year award we would absolutely without a doubt nominate Christian Gomez and the staff of Double Tree by Hilton London -Tower of London for their commendable customer care. He is one special Manager of a team of special people.
Thank you to you all. Looking forward to our next visit, later on in the year.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms may have better views
