“Nice Hotel in Nice Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

We stayed at the Mint Hotel Tower of London for 3 nights. We had booked and prepaid for a twin room with continental breakfast. The hotel is very easy to find only a two minute walk from Tower Hill Tube.
We arrived late at night to check in. The staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. We got to the room, discovered it was a double bed so we had to return to the reception again. He apologised and gave us a Twin Room on the 7th Floor. We got to our room and it was a double bed again! It amazed us that there was no twin bed rooms available. We contacted the front desk again and they sent somebody to the room to separate the beds and supply extra bed linen. The duvets they put on the beds were too big to fit into the covers and they didn’t close at the end so the duvet kept sliding out of the cover. It was after midnight at this stage and we were tired and just wanted to go to bed so we decided to wait until morning to deal with it. However, before the two gentlemen left they asked if we wanted a glass of wine or something for the inconvenience but we declined. We did however ask for the full English breakfast to be included in our rate and this they agreed to. Before breakfast the following morning we contacted the front desk, told them of the event the previous night and asked for it to be rectified.
You can still smell the freshness all around the hotel and in the bedroom. The bedroom was small, the beds were comfortable. There was an iMac TV in the room which was a nice feature and in particular the free internet access which should in this day and age be free in all hotels. The bathroom was small but nice with a really powerful shower and nice toiletries from The White Company. The breakfast room was a large, bright room and very busy. There was a good selection to choose from.
We had planned to go to the Sky Lounge on one of the evenings but we spent all day out and about London that by the time we got back to the hotel we were exhausted. We did go up to have a look and one of the bar men opened the door so we could go out and have a look at the amazing views. We were disappointed then that we didn’t go for a cocktail. Maybe next time!

Dear Ogontour,

Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear of the problems experienced with your room allocation. We have looked at how this happened and have changed the process to prevent it recurring.
On another note, I was very pleased to read that your overall experience was positive. We will arrange some SkyLounge time for you next time.

We traveled to London at the end of March. We flew in to Stanstead airport and got on the Stanstead Express train in to Liverpool Street Station. From there we got in a taxi and 5 minutes later (£6) we arrived outside the Mint Hotel, Tower Bridge. Very attentive staff greeted us and took our case.
Check in was fast with very polite and friendly staff, customer service is definitely a priority at this hotel. I can't fault it in any way. I had emailed the hotel in advance to make them aware that it was my partners birthday and when we arrived they wished him a happy birthday and gave us 2 free drinks vouchers to use in one of the bars in the hotel. The room itself was spacious with a king size bed and extra bed for our 6 year old son. In room - hairdryer, bath robes, iron, ironing board, air con, safe, kettle, coffee and tea and of course an imac computer with free unlimited internet access, webcam and tv function. Perfect for our 6 year old who played on cbeebies and milkshake websites as well as playing several games and emailing photos to his granny in Scotland. Made occupying him easy. Beds were extremely comfortable and room very quiet. We were on the 5th floor and although we had a city view we could not see Tower Bridge. I think you would really need to be on floor 9 or 10 to get a view of the Bridge. The Sky Lounge is located on the 12th floor but unfortunately we could not go in as they have a very strict 'no children' policy. We did go up to the 12th floor and the view from the lobby window was amazing. We secured a fab deal on this hotel through a website called olotels which included continental breakfast. Fantastic choice and all very fresh.
Location wise it was ideal for us. Took us 1 minute to walk to Tower Hill Underground Station and 2 minutes to the Tower Of London. Located on the Circle and District Underground line meant we could access the London Eye very quickly, A day pass on the tube cost £6.50 per adult and children under 11 are free when accompanied by an adult. Just round the corner from the hotel was a Weatherspoons, All Bar One, Pizza Express and Subway. Just 5 minutes up the road from them was a Tesco Express and many other shops. We always felt very safe walking in this area and certainly never felt threatened.
We are already planning to return to London in the summer and will be staying at the Mint Hotel for its amazing location, service and amenities. Thank you Mint Hotel.

Having stayed at the Mint westminster a couple of times I was looking forward to seeing what the Mint Tower Bridge was like.

The hotel is still quite new and has a nice new fresh feel to it from when you enter the building. Checkin was a little slow but we asked if any room with a view was available. The checkin assistant tried her best but ended up with a corner room towards the Apex hotel.
The room was a replica in design to the rooms at the mint westminster but maybe a little bigger. IMac computer with TV as standard. I have to say the Imac TV is a smart move by the Mint hotels. Its a great idea, more hotels should pick up on this concept.
The wifi was fast, bed was very comfortable and the room had no outside noise. However the aircon was quite noisy. Turned it off and it still made a clattering noise, was going to phone front desk but was late at night and was tired. Still managed to get a good nights sleep but would imagine this may annoy some people.
Didnt try the skybar and didnt have breakfast.
Nice friendly staff, overall a nice relaxing stay.

Just returned from a two night stay. From the moment you walked through the door, you are welcomed with such sincerity. The hotel in itself is an architectual delight. Reception staff so attentive to all details. Our room was wonderful overlooking Tower Bridge. Beautiful and clean, bed so comfortable. Wi-fi and use of imac was so impressive and so useful to plan your weekend. The Sky Lounge on the 12th floor has the most breathtaking views and we were so lucky as the sun was shining and the warmth of the spring sun, made our visit incredible. The breakfast served was amazing, wonderful choice of meats, cheese, fruits, seeds, juices and then the incredible choice of the cooked items, I had eggs benedict on the first morning which were wonderful and then kedgeree on the second morning which again was so good. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the waiting staff. Hats off to a truly fantastic hotel and we will be going back again in May without fail. Other hotel chains should take note.

Latest outpost of Mint Hotel (formerly City Inn). Very handy for Tower Hill tube station and Tower Gateway DLR station. Rooms great. Spacious, nicely furnished with great big comfy bed and good size desk. iMac for tv, skype and Internet (complimentary) and free wifi throughout the hotel. Bathrooms have shower but no tub. Rooms have individual heating/a.c. control. Rooms are spotlessly clean. Check in was a breeze.

I had evening meal the bar. (Frenchchurch Lounge). Not recommended. Service was slow (over 1 hour for a burger) and when the food came it was overcooked. pricey too.

Breakfast next morning in restaurant was good but lack of attention either by waitstaff or chef spoiled it somewhat.

Will most likely return. This is a great hotel chain and I hope these are just teething issues.
