“A wonderful Soho oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This is superb place, right in the heart of Soho. The rooms are really stylish, furnished with gorgeous antiques. We were lucky to pick up a last minute bargain and slept in their smallest room, named Mary Barker, which was down in the basement, but still had some natural light. Away from the street it was totally quiet. The bathroom was superb, with a lovely roll top bath and brass taps. Really imaginative use of the space. Very welcoming staff. Recommended without hesitation.
Note that there is no restaurant and that if you take breakfast in your room. In the case of Mary Barker there would not have been space.

Room Tip: In you want quiet, Mary Barker room is a good bet.

This place is quirky, but in the best way possible. The floor is uneven and the steps are small and you feel like you have entered a the victorian era (I think that would be the right time frame). It could not be more quaint and charming. I could stay here regularly - with one minor issue. The Wm Bateman room has a lovely bath but no shower. I have had this experience before at a place called 40 Winks in east London and this hotel is much better than that one, but still - its awkward if you are really used to a shower head on the wall. There is a "wand" on the tub, but that presents its own challenges.

I believe other rooms have proper showers and I would strongly prefer those. Other than that, it is just this wonderful oasis in the heart of Soho. It was quiet (amazing) and it was just so darn charming. I know I said that before, but seriously, go try it, you will not be able to stop talking about how lovely it is.

Room Tip: Get a proper shower

...but I don't think I'll stay again. The location is great (right in the heart of soho) the staff are amazing, the rooms are quirky, the toiletries excellent (rem), the bathrooms full of quality antique fittings, the history is fascinating, the whole atmosphere is right up my street...but the noise outside is a bother. Because the street is fairly narrow and the windows original, both times I've stayed I've been awoken by both late night revellers then (really) early morning rubbish trucks and deliveries. As I'm usually in London for work reasons my sleep matters. If I'm ever back for pure fun and plan to be a reveller I'll reconsider!! Really hate to say anything negative as its a great hotel.

Perfect for a romantic stay in the centre of London. Loved the four poster bed and the old fashioned furnishings. Very clean. Perfectly situated. Prefer quirky and dont mind not having a lift or a restauant.

We stayed here in the summer of 2014and it was a delight! Staff were friendly and helpful, suggesting local dining. The building and the rooms are gorgeous and unique. Excellent location just steps away from restaurants and pubs and nightlife. The beds were comfortable and rooms decorated in lush fabrics and color tones.
