“Good Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

Stayed at Diplomat whilst on a leisure trip to London. Hotel is situated in a very quiet area. On arrival we were upgraded from a double room to a large executive room with a good comfy bed. There were teas/coffee facilities and a bar. The hotel is good for bus services and near to Victoria station and the underground. The breakfast was buffet style, either continental or full English. Tea/coffee and toast. Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. This hotel is good value for money. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return again soon.

We stayed at this hotel because it was near friends of our were staying. This hotel is old and because it is historic, it cannot be updated (so we were told). The staff was relatively helpful but they don't have much to work with. The "icing on the cake" was a sign in the bathroom saying that the water was NOT POTABLE! I cannot recommend this hotel.

The location was good and the price reasonable; a few minutes walk (aprox. 15min) until you reached the Victoria Station and the Underground. The staff was friendly. The hotel looks old fashioned but in a charming way although the furniture in the rooms looks old and warned out.

We just spent 7 nights at the Diplomat in one of their large rooms. Easy walk to Sloane square or Victoria, close access to buses. Very comfortable, with excellent kingsize bed, powerful shower in the tub, water fountain on the landing, efficient central heating and very little traffic noise. The staff is very friendly and international.
If you want 5 star standardized, this is not for you. It is a well-priced small London hotel, the way they used to make them 40 years ago. We look forward to being back soon.

Room Tip: Ground-floor rooms probably noisier.

Fab, character hotel with period decor and old fashioned English charm. 'Felt like being on a film set. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Offered to help with luggage but I wanted to ride the quirky little lift with manually operated cage doors I'd read about! A well-maintained piece of history. I stayed in what I understand to be one of the hotel's larger rooms - which was enormous and included armchairs, a dressing table and an alcove with a desk. Good comfy bed too. Bathroom fan rather noisy but this is the case in many hotels. It's true that the place might need a lick of paint in places and, as with street-facing rooms in most London hotels, noise from traffic finishes late and starts early - but this is not the fault of the hotel which has installed double glazing that reduces the noise somewhat. Breakfast is buffet style, continental and cooked English are both available, and came with fresh toast and coffee (or tea) served by friendly staff. I stayed at the Diplomat while I was in town for an awards dinner and it felt like the perfect place for the occasion - especially being able to walk down the spiral staircase dressed up for my big night out. I loved staying there and hope to return.

Very nice building architecturally, but the decor is a bit jaded. Friendly and helpful staff. Offers good value as far as London goes. It does not have a swimming pool or fitness centre as far as I know but I cannot seem to be able to remove it from detailed review.

if you need a no frills boutique hotel right in the wealthy residential Belgravia this is the best place. rooms are a bit outdated and are in need of renovation, however they are larger than the standard rooms in London. very friendly staff and good breakfast. recommended if you are looking for a decent home-like place to stay with basic amenities and larger rooms. the location is unbeatable in the middle of Belgravia 5-10 mins walk to Harrods, Sloane Street and Sloane Sq. tube station.

Room Tip: go for executive rooms
