“Ok if you're on a budget but very basic.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

This hotel has a great location just a few minutes walk from Paddington tube station and in a relatively quiet park-side street.

Everything else is very basic - small rooms with old decor, one towel & piece of soap supplied (no hand towel or bath mat), none of the smaller lights/lamps working etc. The room and bathroom were clean enough, but not reassuringly so!

Breakfast was a simple English breakfast style, serving hours were quite restrictive - 6:30-9:00am.

There is no wifi at all (paid or otherwise) - uncommon now and very inconvenient when travelling.

Overall a decent place to stay if you need to operate on a budget, but don't expect anything fancy.

We stayed in The Belvedere for one night. It is located close to the station, just a 5 mins walk.
Given this location, we didn't expect much with this price.
We were assigned to the room in the 4th floor (top floor!) while the stairs got steeper the higher. We had 3 suitcases and it was a big big challenge to move them to our room. So watch out if you have lots of luggage.
Another drawback is the breakfast room/time (our room rate included breakfast). They warned us the breakfast room is extremely busy between 8-9am, so do go earlier if we would like a breakfast...so turned out we didnt have breakfast as we preferred to stay in bed till later (for our holiday!)
And we had to pay if we wanted to keep luggage at the hotel after 2pm, which we didn't choose to do as there is left baggage service at the nearby paddington station, which just costs a few pounds more.

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage, try to email them earlier to request for a room at lower floor. As THE...

Booked room 19 on the first floor off by the reception and suffered bites from bed bugs. Had been traveling through Europe the previous 3 weeks and no instance until we arrive at this place. The reception seemed genuinely shocked when we relayed our tale and promptly made some compensation on our 2 night stay. He said he would have also moved our room; we were leaving that day so would have been to no avail. Which is too bad in the sense of dealing with the bugs as was watching for that closely when looking at hotels and any mention of bed bugs; alas we still got bitten... Be warned.

I was honoured by the best single room the hotel can provide. The room is quiet small, simple but clean with a view to the road side. The toilette is small with a very tiny basin. I hit my head every time I tried to wash my face due to the self attached to the mirror. Yet my stay of three nights was cosy and nice. The best credit goes to Mr Khan in the front desk. He accommodate me with everything possible and helpful with advices about the neighbourhood.

The Hotel Belvedere was perfectly fine for my overnight visit and I might consider it again but I wouldn't want to stay too much longer. I chose it as the price was good for a single room with breakfast and it was only a 20 minute walk through Hyde park to the Royal Albert Hall. The room (17A) was of adequate size for one person, had a good quality TV with remote (although I didn't watch much), tea and coffee facilities, a hair drier, desk, chair, clean sheets/pillow/towel a bar of soap. The breakfast, although not fit for a King, was ok for the price and served by the friendly staff. Orange juice, two rashes of bacon, one egg, a medium/small size sausage, baked beans, coffee, toast and jam. I asked for an extra couple of rounds of toast without any problem The negatives would have to be my room was in the basement and the rumbling of the underground could be heard/felt but this was quite gentle and not at all disturbing. The window opened into a very small area with a fire ladder and very little flow of air. The carpet and general décor of the room was in need of some attention but from what I saw of the rest of the hotel this might have been an exception. The duvet appeared clean but a little stained. There wasn't anywhere in the bathroom to store a toiletries bag but I personally don't think this is a problem with a single occupancy room. There was a pleasant park just outside and a good selection of local shops, restaurants and some welcoming pubs very nearby.
