“disappointing all around”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We were staying for 2 nights for a wedding which was on New Year's Eve. When we were shown to our room I immediately noticed how cold it was, and Reception sent an Engineer. He told me that the heating in lots of the rooms was broken, and we eventually settled on a room which we were told it worked. Yes - it did, but by going on and off with great banging and noise throughout the night and so disturbing our sleep. Room was very shabby with stains on the carpet and burn marks in the drapes.
We asked the hotel to get us a taxi to go to the wedding ceremony, and they arranged for a minibus - which was stupid for 2 of us to go on a 5 minute drive, and also cost over £30 why did they not say they cannot get us a black cab - everyone else paid £8.00 for the same journey.
On the Wednesday morning when we went down for breakfast at 9.20 am, we put the Do Not Disturb sgin on the door, and came back to find the room already cleaned for the next guests. I had left my handbag in the room with all my jewellery, and purse in it.
I have written to the General Manager and he has not even given me the courtesy of a reply.

Room Tip: do not think there are any good rooms, and ceratinly would not stay again

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments, we are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your stay.

I would just like to confirm that our heating system at the Hotel is working correctly however, due to the severe weather conditions that we have had in the past few weeks we have supplied additional radiators in each of our rooms to provide added warmth if required.
Our main heating system works subject to the room temperature making it switch on and off and we apologise if this caused any inconvenience.

In regards to the rooms we always like to do our very best for our guests and if any of our guests feel they would like to view another room, we always give them the option, subject to availability. We at the Hotel feel that we offer value for money given the location and our rooms are more than adequate in line with the rates that we offer.

In regards to your room being cleaned despite your ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign, we have confirmed with the Housekeeping department that they only entered the room once you had checked out.
We have also checked with the mini cab firm and the total sum of £20 was charged, a people carrier was the most convenient transportation available at the time which was beyond our control. If you were not happy with the people carrier prior to your journey you always had the option to cancel and use alternative transport.

We try our best to respond to all letters that we receive however it is unfortunate that we have not received a letter of any such from you. We have looked into your case and we can confirm that no complaints were fed back to the Reception team at the time.

Once again, sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused throughout your stay and we hope in the future you decide to stay with us again.

Warm regards,
Raj Chana

Besides the rooms being small, they were worn, dirty and badly in need of paint. Apparently they lack a heating system because our rooms all had portable electric radiators. The same is true for the conference room in the basement. When asked where the business center was so I could download my boarding passes, I was told to go down the street to the local Mail Boxes Etc. franchise. The food was average at best. The bar only had non British beers. They were incredibly stingy when they poured their liquor. All in all, there is no reason why anyone would want to stay at this hotel

A very run down hotel the room really needs updating, wallpaper peeling of walls , very un-comfortable bed, room was cold as heating was broken, bathroom wasn't cleaned well as had a large black hair on wall which was still there the following day. And this was the second room we had as we asked to be moved as the first was just the same but a lot smaller plus there was a mouse trap under the bed !!!
Don't stay at this hotel if you can help it.

This is a wannabe boutique hotel in the center of London. The location is very good (very close to to Green Park tube station). The structure seems old, but overall clean and tidy. It's funny, if you look closely everything appears like falling apart, but if you don't, everything seems fine. There is no minibar in the rooms and the range of temperature varies a lot according to the room. There is no heating system (there is one but it doesn't seem to work and it looks like a leftover from the past) but there are radiators. We were 7 in 7 rooms, and some of us complained that it was cold, and some others that it was too warm.

Included breakfast was very basic but decent.

A couple of time our key cards would simply stop working and we would have to go back to the lobby.

I would recommend this place for a 1/2 days stay, but not for longer.

Firstly let me remark on the positive things.
1) Hotel in general was clean.
2) Breakfast was edible.
3) Good Location.
Negative things:-
1) The main Heating/Cooling system in the hotel was non existent. Instead there were numerous
oil filled radiators scattered around the hotel which, (alright), they did the job but hardly the
point.
2) The defunct heating system was the source of a major draft into the room, alleviated by
draping a spare blanket over the unit.
3) The bed was extremely poor, my partner and I both suffered with back ache and we were
very relieved to get back home to our own bed.
4) The toilet was unable to flush anything of substance, something more suitable to an area of
the Congo than the heart of Mayfair.
5) On checking out of the hotel I was not given a printed invoice, (something not noticed by
myself until on the train homeward bound.
In conclusion, if you want a comfortable hotel try the Hilton, next door.

Had booked this hotel for 2 nights to attend a function in central London. When we arrived the reception couldnt work out if I had paid or not even though I told them I had to pay on arrival. The room was VERY small, would have had more space in a motorway service station, and not finished to a very high standard. Paint was peeling from the walls/window sills. The draws were very difficult to open and the carpet was stained. The beds were very hard and not very comfortable. The showers were also difficult to keep at a comfortable temperature.

All this taken into account, the room was still £100 a night cheaper than any other similar room in the areas hotels.

I would not book to stay here again.

Dear Paul,

Thank you very much for your comments. I have spoken to the Reception Manger and he informed me that there was an issue whilst you were checking in on whether or not the accommodation had been prepaid. The majority of guests that stay with us have the tendency to pay for the accommodation upfront in advance receiving a further discount but we later found out that this was not the case for you and we apologize for any inconvenience.

We are a boutique hotel located in the heart of Mayfair and our rooms may appear small however they tend to be sufficient for the majority of our guests. For those guests who are willing to pay extra we have the Executive Room types which have been recently refurbished to high standards. Guests who are looking for value for money choose our Standard Room types. As you have stated in your review we feel that we offer value for money with the perfect location.

I hope in the future you will select an Executive Room type on your next stay and I am sure that you will more than satisfied.

I look forward to your return in the very near future.

Warm Regards,
Raj Chana

We stayed at the Park Lane Mews Hotel a snowy week-end in January. The hotel ensured that rooms were kept warm by placing additional oil-filled electrical radiators in the rooms. Although, we did not really need it, we appreciated it - there was none of the damp horrible cold you can sometimes find in British hotels. The reception area was very pleasant and the location was excellent, close to Hyde Park Corner.

However, the room was far from what you expect of a 4 star hotel (OK the rate was very reasonable for the area, so we should maybe not expect 4 star standard). The twin room was very small, with no proper place to put the suitcases. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom was nicely decorated in marble, but the toilet did not flush properly (we had to request for it to be fixed, but it was still trick to use afterwards) and the bathtub had seen better days. It only had a shower fixed on the wall, no hand shower.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments and please rest assured the information has been passed onto our Housekeeping Manager and Maintenance Engineer.

We at the Hotel appreciate all feedback left by our guests and we do our very best to rectify any issues raised immediately.

Please let me start by saying that our rooms may appear small but they are more suited to the corporate market travellers than our leisure market so we apologise if the room size did not meet your expectations. We recommend in future that you upgrade to an Executive Room type which has ample room space to accommodate your suitcases.

Finally in regards to your comment in regards to no hand shower, we feel at the Hotel that this is more of a personal choice and over the many years working at the Hotel this has been the first complaint we’ve had in regards a no hand shower.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Warm Regards,
Raj Chana
