“perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

I go to London very often and since years I appreciate to stay at Pelham Hotel. The best value is the position. Just in front of South Kensington underground station, the hotel is situated at a walking distance from Museums and attractions (Victoria & Albert, Natural History, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde park) and also to Harrod’s that can be reached with a nice walk along Brompton Road.
The area is full of every kind of restaurants, so no problem for eating choice.
My first meeting with the hotel was a little disturbing. Years ago I booked a double room and, the day before the arrival the hotel contacted me apologizing saying that the room was not available because of a family group that missed the leaving. But is in the adversities that you can really understand the real talent. The hotel found a beautiful accommodation (a whole apartment) in a club just steps from it, giving me free transportations for all the days of the stay. Then, to apologize, offered a two night complimentary stay in the period of my choice. So, the following time I went to London, I went to Pelham again. And again.
The style of the hotel is authentic English, with white wood panels and striped wallpapers.
If you are a small group, you can also choose the suite in the back of the hotel that is a sort of mini – apartment. I agree with a previous review that underlines to take care of the very steep stair, not to forget also the second bedroom sited on an half open mezzanine: definitely not so fit for families with little childs.
A minus point is breakfast: not bad but not at the level of the hotel and of other five star hotel in the city.
A suggestion is to book rooms not facing the main street because there may be to much noise.
Rates are high, but average for London standards.

Room Tip: avoid rooms facing the street

“Selective boutique hôtel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012 via mobile

In the middle if the French neighbourhood, South Kensington metro station, a really nice selective boutique hotel. It's always great to be back at the Pelham and feel at home. The breakfast is also great; take time to enjoy it.

“Reliably Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

I visit London monthly and always stay at The Pelham. With probably about 15 stays under my belt, my experience each and every time has been outstanding. The service is friendly, there is wonderful attention to detail, and the concierge (especially Jamie) goes above and beyond with finding theater tickets, getting cabs, booking restaurants, etc - all with a smile.

“Disappointing service from a 4 star boutique hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Used trip advisor to find this hotel and all would have been as expected for the £350 a night price had the service been better but the Concierge seemed to be absent. No email confirmation of booking, asked for early check-in which was not noted so could not go to room on arrival. Taxis ordered twice, first time receptionist had to go outside in the rain to hail one, and again she offered to do this a second time when they failed to book the taxi we ordered meaning we arrived at our evening appointment late and very stressed. Not good. Would have expected more and will not be returning any time soon.

“Cosy Kensington residence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Excellent location close to the South Kensington tube. When I stayed the lift was out of order and
you do need them, as the hotel has a number of stairs, both up to the bedrooms and down to the brasserie and breakfast room. Although the curtains are heavy and double backed, I had a room roadside and the traffic is heavy for most of the night. Our company has a corporate rate, 230 GBP before vat, but at the time it would have been cheaper to book via the hotel website which would have been 165 GBP ex vat, quite a difference. Staff were friendly and everything about the hotel exudes quality and richness, especially the food; a full breakfast at GBP 17.30 was I felt a little expensive, especially if staying for a week. Bathroom was large, clean with quality products.Hotel has an honesty bar. I would recommend this hotel, but check for deals first on the hotel's own website as I feel GBP 275 inc vat is a little overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side to the main road.
