“Wifi rip off”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Good points first, room was spacious and quiet, door staff excellent, helpful and attentive.
Bad points, in no particular order. Extortionate wifi, why can small hotels in the countryside provide free wifi and 'luxury' hotels feel the need to charge £5 per hour or £24 per 24 hours? Answer -GREED, there are no extra costs involved, even budget hotels provide limited free wifi. Cost of breakfast, over £20 per person for cooked room service breakfast for food cost of a coupe of pounds, at most. Badly naked bedroom carpet by the door, broken dressing table draw hard to close, shower head way to low, tiny bathroom. Constant whine from bedroom airco and inability to open window for fresh air. Uninterested receptionist at check, no smile, left in mid check in to make a telephone call, in fact bordering on surly, why do this job if you're not interested in customer service and so different to the front door staff.
Overall mostly disappointing.

We have now stayed twice at this hotel - once in a Club Room and once in a Standard Room. Each time we have been very satisfied with our accomodation - very quiet rooms - excellent room service and ALL the staff in the hotel - the doormen, the reception, the restaurant staff and the chambermaids have been extremely friendly and helpful - in all ways. We will return!

My husband and i recently stayed at this hotel ,we had a lovely time here, the hotel is just around the corner of Gloucester road tube station . The rooms were good in size and the bed was very comfortable .The breakfast was plentiful and quite a variety of food was on offer , it was busy but they had it well organised .All the staff were very happy and friendly and you could have a laugh and a joke with them .Humphreys bar was very pleasant and the staff there were also very friendly , we had afternoon Tea in the bar and it was excellent but i would recommend one to share as its quite a large. we are going back to london in october and we are thinking of returning to this hotel . We enjoyed our stay here .

Just a few yards from the Gloucester Road underground station this hotel couldn't be better for sightseeing around London. A couple of good restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and a decent pub all within a 2 minute walk make this a perfect base in London.

Dear IanRobertson,

Thank you for your very positive review and for considering us the perfect base in London.

Indeed we are very conveniently located, just across Gloucester Road Underground station, giving easy access to Piccadilly, District and Circle lines. These will take you in no time to all parts of London and Heathrow Airport.

We are also in the heart of Kensington and there are many attractions, shops and restaurants nearby.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Stayed here on the advice of a friend. They were right, the room was a very decent size whith a really good quality bed. Food for breakfast was very good quality and plenty of it. Very surprised the parking for the night was £37 which even for where is was seemsed realy expensive. Lesson learnt though if you dont need you car the tube station is no more than a one minute walk. Not much good though it you are carrying goods.

Booked at the very last minute and got a great deal for a Sat night with breakfast for £90 for the room. The location was great, literally next door to Gloucester Road tube station and only a few stops from the centre of London and all the sights. We arrived at 1.15 pm, 3/4 hr before check in to be told that there were no double rooms free but we could have a twin. I said that we wanted a double and was told that if we came back at 2pm there would be one free. Reception lady was not the least bit welcoming and no "hello welcome to the hotel, how are you today" etc etc. Strange but hey ho we went off for some lunch and came back at 2pm. We were then upgraded to a club room for free, not sure why but most welcome.
Same reception lady gave us the upgrade but she really could do with a bit of cheering up, seeing as she was likely to be there for the rest of the evening checking people in.
Our room was large with a seating area, wonderfully large and comfortable bed. Perfectly fine bathroom with toiletries. Iron, ironing board and safe also welcome extra.
The hotel is surrounded by lots of eating places of various prices as well as a Waitrose and Tesco exprees if you dont have the hotel breakfast.
Breakfast was as expected from a large hotel. Good choice and variety but nothing spectacular. Breakfast staff and servers were very good, quick and cheerful, reception staff should take note.
WiFi is a problem , no free wifi anywhere in the hotel except in the bar if you buy a drink which would be the equivalant of £10 for 24 hrs wifi. In this day and age it really is too much to not have any free wifi.
So in conclusion staying for a night i would highly recommend it as you can manage without wifi but if you are staying for anylonger and need wifi i would go to somewhere that provides it for free.

Stayed in this hotel last week. It's very accessible due to its close proximity to the London Underground. The room is clean and big; buffet breakfast is included in my package which is great. The front desk staff are excellent. Overall a very pleasant stay for me and would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting London.
