“Perfect location but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Perfectly situated on the Strand it has great access to the traditional covent garden markets and also a subway that takes you direct to the underground tubes. However the rooms especially the bathrooms could have been abit cleaner and looked like they were in need of a little bit of care and updating.

I stayed here a few years ago and had a very bad experience. I think that the hotel has had a refurbishment since then and is now much nicer. Staff were friendly, rooms are small - but this is common to all Central London hotels that I can afford to stay in, I have stayed in much much smaller rooms in London. Beware in the summer as not all rooms have air con and they do get hot - opening a window lets the London noise in. Prices are fair, breakfast is cheaper to book the night before than on the day. breakfast quality is the normal buffet breakfast style and is OK rather than outstanding - local café might be nicer if you have time. The best bit is that the hotel is in a great location, opposite the Savoy. It offers fair value for money in London and I would use it again.

Strand Palace Hotel is located very closed to Covent Garden Piazza.
The Hotel had been newly-refurbished but it still looks like an antique Palace.
Services are good, staff is friendly. My single room was small but equipped with everything I needed. I didn't eat to the Restaurants but I read good reviews about them.
At the end of my holiday I left my luggage to the hotel box service and when I came back, the concierge helped me to put my luggage into the taxi and brought bags for me without asking some help.
I also had room service for breakfast and it was very good.
Prices are not cheap (well, that's London value) but it worth it a lot.

Room Tip: maybe contact directely the hotel reception to make clean you need a big room.

I spent New Years Eve at this hotel after watching the fireworks on the Embankment. I found the best deal on the hotels own website; 1 night in a single room with breakfast and a travelcard for zones 1&2 for the duration of my stay - all for a little over £80! Central London, New Years Eve, Bed and Full English breakfast for under £90 - wow!!
You are greeted at the door by a very nice doorman in a top hat. The check in was painless and friendly. The rooms, although small, contain everything that you need - including tea, coffee and biscuits! The beds are VERY comfortable (single bed in single room - not a problem for me but I know some people will moan about this), and the rooms and bathrooms are spotless. All of the staff were great.
There is a fan in the room as, being an older building, there is no aircon in the rooms. I think that in the summer this could be a bit of a problem for some people. Personally though, I could not fault this hotel in any way.

Room Tip: I asked for a room in a quiet area and was given a room on the 8th floor with a view to the internal...

This was my first time in London and I really enjoyed it, very much with the help from the friendly staff at this hotel. They were always helpful and they did get us the best deals for the attractions which we wanted to visit during our stay. The room was really nice & tidy and it had a beautiful bathroom. Also the location contributed to the overall experience, so nice to have so many things within walking distance. Next time I'll visit London, this is my first choice for my stay.

This is a large hotel which is very close to Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the River. Its ideal as a location for tourists. I was in London working and stayed in a single room on a late deal. I had no complaints. Easy check in , a modern , clean room with a good bathroom , and a good breakfast with lots of choice. The room was on the small side, and didnt have air conditioning (not a problem in December) but was excellent value for what I paid. I would stay again.

I stayed here for one night during the weekend. The reviews seemed good and it was all true! Great location (2 blocks away from my favorite part of the city - Covent Garden) and good room. The room was small but very clean and with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also small but also very clean and with a great shower.
The staff was very helpful and allowed me to check-in ahead of time.
