“Need to get their act together and provide service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Visited for afternoon tea, with 2 friends. Despite having made a booking, and despite the place not being full, we havd to wait over 10 minutes for our table. All 3 of us liked the look of one of the choices - Chocolate Tea, so we all chose the same option. All the contents of each option were clearly stated in the menu.

The waitress eventually delivered our tea and coffee, along with 3 plates of sandwiches and - inexplicably - 2 stands of chocolates containing no more than 2 of each of the items stated on the menu, and in some cases just 1. How you split 2 or 1 into 3 I don't know! The waitress informed us that we would be served scones at the end of the meal.

Eventually one of our party asked for another coffee. We waited about half an hour before asking another member of staff for the coffee, which came this time. We waited another half hour before asking where the scones were. A less-than-pleased waiter brought them over, still hot - which was nice - and said he would get us knives. 15 minutes later, the supervisor happened to be passing, and we asked her for the knives, which she brought, By this time, the scones had cooled down and were dry and crusty.

All this time one of the dessert glasses remained uncollected on our table. It was also aesthetically displeasing to see so many tables around us that had not been cleared or made up after other guests had left - not what you expect from a professional establishment.

We did complain to the supervisor, and - to be fair - she did discount our bill by 50%, but the experience was still somewhat marred. Why did the staff try to give us less than we'd ordered? Why didn't they turn up with things we'd ordered without reminders from us? They need to get their act together if they're going to offer what is supposed to be an experience.

This hotel was really convenient to a church we were attending for a friend's wedding. It is spectacular - for a hotel. The main public areas show its heritage as a great railway hotel of the 19th century. The room we had was spacious and well furnished (but we couldn't get BBC1 on the tv).

The Winter Garden restaurant is the most amazing part of the spectacular public rooms and we ate a great meal created by guest chef, Michelin-starred Mark Poynton of Allimentum in Cambridge. The service matched the food. Saturday morning breakfast, food and service, was great and whilst the food was as good on Sunday the service was poor. We raised this with the restaurant manager and the duty manager (who were talking together near the restaurant as we went back to our room). They acknowledged the problems and convinced us that they took the matter seriously so I would not expect similar difficulties if/when we return. But we would happily stay here again as it was, overall, an excellent stay.

i spent the weekend at the landmark with my wife and loved the experience. rooms were large and clean and i found staff to be very helpful .location was excellent and i would stay again in a heartbeat.however we paid for the breakfast after reading other reviews and although the food was good it was not worth the extra £60 per night.drinks prices were also very expensive.i would stay again but on a room only basis

We stayed here on a bed and breakfast basis for three nights in November. The room was fine but the bathroom was a little old fashioned with an ideosyncratic shower that reaaly should have been more powerful. Service throughout the hotel was excellent and the general ambiance relaxing.

The breakfast buffet was not huge but of a very high quality. (Much more interesting than the extensive buffet you often get in hotels like a good Hilton.) Hot breakfast dishes were also buffet service on the Saturday and Sunday but reverted to being individually cooked on the Monday. I do think a top quality hotel should be serving freshly cooked breakfasts.

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch. This is a buffet affair with unlimited champagne. I have been to meals before where unlimited actually means slow service to limit the alcohol, but here our glasses were topped up immediately by efficient satff. It is a house champagne from a little known producer but it was very pleasant. Although it is a buffet, it is a very high quality one. There are breakfast items, like eggs and bacon, a range of salads with meats, seafood and salmon as starters, roast meats and prepared main course dishes, loads of desserts.......and more. Absolutely no complaints about either the range or quality. The roast rib eye beef was exceptionally good.

Great brunch in an extremely nice balcony floor in the main atrium. Good background music from a live band.

We were a couple but there were also family groups and friends enjoying the meal. I will happily go again if I am staying at the hotel over the weekend.

We save this place for special occassions when up in London. The Mirror Bar is a great way to start or end the night. The cocktails, while very expensive, are amazing - not had a bad one yet! It's comfy, yet sophisticated. The bar staff are always hospitable and keep you topped up with niblles throughout your time there.
The other treat is a champage brunch on Sunday. As much champagne and mouthwatering dishes you can eat during the afternoon - full engligh breakfast, seafood/salad, roast, pasta and the most amazing dessert selection. The genuinly do keep topping up yor glass right to the final minute. It's not cheap (£80pp) but it is great value - just book well in advance as it is very popular!

Was invited by a business to stay at this hotel for an evening. Valet parking can be an issue, book this before you arrive to avoid disappointment. If you cant get in, there is an NCP car park 200 yards down the road from hotel (45quid a night though!!!) The hotel was exceptional, outstanding service, the staff in all parts of the hotel cannot do enough for you. Rooms are jut lovely, beautifully decorated and furnished. Spa and gym are fabulous. Bar amazing, Lots of space to walk around, which is unusual for London. Very easy to get in and out of London if you are coming from the M40, M4, Really great hotel which I would love to visit again

Room Tip: All rooms are to a very high standard

Located close to Marylebone Station, you step into another world when you walk through the door. We recently celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Landmark and the experience was fantastic. The rooms are beautifully laid out and very clean. The food was delicious and the facilities were top class. I don't give feed back normally to hotels but this really is a five star hotel and would recommend it to all my friends and family. We are looking forward to returning very soon.
