This is an up market hotel which delivers impeccable service, but at a premium price. The Atrium is spectacular and the overall experience is worth the extra cost. Afternoon tea is wonderful but very expensive!

We stayed for one night as we were working in the hotel the next day.

The location is brilliant and the building is stunning. You can sit for hours people watching in the atrium.

My review has a couple of negatives but lots of positives.

Negatives first:
We had to move rooms as ours had been occupied by a smoker and the cleaners had been over zealous with the room spray; creating a sickly, smokey atmosphere. However reception dealt with it wonderfully and we were moved with little fuss and upgraded.

The hotel has a strong smell (I'm not usually that attuned to smells) in the public areas which on first 'sniff' is lovely, but after 10 minutes or so it becomes quite overpowering. I only noticed this on the evening not a breakfast.

WiFi. Is this the last hotel in Britain to STILL charge guests for WiFi. Worse still was the terrible scripted excuse I was given from the lad at reception who insisted that, 'Other hotels are ripping people off because it's automatically added to your room rate'. What a load of rubbish. Just help people to be connected, provide free WiFi to guests and stop it with the silly excuses.

Now for some big positives:

The staff are a delight, courteous and very helpful.

We had room service which was amazing. Wow what a meal!

Breakfast is even better and it's served until well after 11am (11.30 I think).

The hotel is beautiful, has a wonderful history and really made me smile.

In my opinion it deserves a better rating than the one on here. Perhaps free WiFi may give The Landmark some bonus marks :)

I went and stayed here for a night a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic service with superb rooms, we stayed in a deluxe room, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere throughout. it is expensive, £58 for breakfast for two, but you get what you pay for...
Oh, my one gripe, if you want to use the spa as a resident, you still have to pay £15 for the privilege, abit cheeky I think...

We stayed in the hotel as a birthday treat for our 10 year old son. Our room wasn't quite ready because we were so early but the receptionist took our mobile number and rang us as soon as it was ready. We stayed in an atrium room with a view over the wonderful atrium below. The children were treated to homemade cookies on arrival and chocolate covered strawberries for the birthday boy. The room was fine, very clean with nice furnishings but as a 5 star I think it should offer a proper coffee machine as standard - not just a kettle and instant sachets. However the amazing food at breakfastade up for the slightly inadequate room. The variety and quality on offer was incredible. The staff were helpful and friendly. Pancakes cooked fresh were a favourite of the kids, the selection on offer and the presentation was exemplary.
Would we go back? Yes for the breakfast and service!

My husband had been to several business meetings at The Landmark and was impressed so we decided to stay on this trip to London.

The first impression of the hotel isn't great if you are on foot as you have to walk up the driveway either from the left or right of the hotel - we ended up walking past the hotel as we assumed there would be steps from the pavement up to the front door. Then because we were n't in a car there was no one to open the door.

Check in was efficient and the receptionist was friendly.

On leaving the lift at our floor I was not over impressed with the decor it didn't feel opulent and luxurious and the rooms are the same - disappointing. Ok we only booked a standard room but there was nothing special about the room. The size is ok. The decor ok. The bathroom although a good size is dated. The bedroom and bathroom seem to be of different eras. It seems to have been renovated on a budget....... there is a head board attached to the wall which is about 18 inches above the mattress!!

We returned to the hotel about 10.30pm and went to the Mirror Bar for a drink - half the tables were reserved. The drinks were good although they should be for the price!

Breakfast is served in the Winter Garden Restaurant situated in the atrium - this is a lovely setting. There is a good selection for the Continental Breakfast but the cooked is all buffet - even the eggs benedict! My husband said even the quality of the cooked wasn't the best. You can have a freshly cooked omelette. The service was attentive.

Overall the hotel didn't live up to my expectations from reading the web site. There are better hotels for a similar price in better locations.
