“Very nice hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

I've stayed at The Tower several times for business purposes. I really rate this hotel. Good service, nice rooms, really clean, good bars and restaurants. The location is great, right next to St Katherine's Docks which are lovely, especially in summer. Lots of bars and restaurants on your doorstep and, of course, the Tower of London. Overall a fab hotel for business or pleasure.

Dear Reviewer,
It’s great that having stayed with us a few times you are a fan of the Tower Hotel. As well as the great views of the Docks, our Brasserie terrace is also perfect on a summer’s evening. We hope to see you again soon.
Kind regards
Billy

Stayed at the Tower whilst on business in London. A colleague had recommended it and so gave it a go.

Room was nice, spacious with a fabulous view over the marina. Had everything I needed in a room. Check in was smooth and plenty of staff available, so no real queues.

Although I was not paying for room, I think the location warrants paying the extra.

Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice stay in London.

We have stayed at this hotel before and re booked for another 2 nights in April.
Having booked this in January we then wanted to add additional night. Contacted the hotel on a premium number to be kepted waiting for 45 mins before being told to phone again in the morning. Phoned again and was told that the rate for using the same room for an additional night would be over £200.00 on a bed only basis. As we got the 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis for for far less then this you can guess what we did. We went home early.
Room was good but windows did not open as they had been painted over. Room appears to have been recently decorated but carpet looking worn.
Breakfast was good
The best part of the hotel was the view of tower bridge.

On our way home after a trans-Atlantic cruise, our travel agent booked us for one night here.
Reception was very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel appears to have been built awhile
back and, although the lobby and restaurant areas are very nice, the accommodations are in need of a major refurbishment. The hallways were dark and laid out like the we were in a maze. We had a nice room overlooking the bridge, but that's about the best I can say about it. The refrigerator was one of those self dispensing types that would normally be stocked with drinks, candy and other snacks. It was empty, not working and disconnected. No room in it for anything we might have wanted to keep cool, even if we had wanted to.
The windows were wood framed, warped and in need of repairs. The furniture was old and clunky. The lighting was all low wattage bulbs so it felt dark. The bathroom lights were all LCD pot lights that cast a bright light from overhead but caused dark shadows when standing at the sink. The bathroom had a heated towel rack - also not working. The toilet sounded like a washing machine when flushed.
The heating/AC system worked, but weakly. It was slow to respond and the difference in fan speeds, low to high, was barely discernible. The beds had the standard European coverings , which means there's no top sheet and blanket, but a duvet that gave you two choices - cover up and be too hot, or don't cover up and be too cold. The telephone instructions for setting a wake up call did not work, so I called the front desk to set a wake up time, which they failed to do.
If you've read this far, you might be wondering why I rated this place as "very good". Well, it has a great location. Being right next to the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge is very handy for getting out on foot to explore the area. There are promenades on both sides of the Thames with shops, restaurants, museums and tourist attractions all within an easy stroll. The one day we were there just happened to be absolutely gorgeous, so that helped too.

If you can get an internet deal, this would be a great place from which to explore London. It does have some style, albeit a bit faded, but is definitely in need of an update.

Room Tip: A room with a view of Tower Bridge is worth the expense if you are staying only a day or two.

We stayed for the weekend and had a room with a view of Tower bridge which was lovely.i had upgraded the room to get the bridge view but quite frankly its difficult to see how this room differed to others apart from the view that is. Unfortunatly we had no hot water on the Saturday and were told the Hotel had a problem with their boiler. The receptionist asked us if we wanted to change room but we decided to stay put and £50.00 was deducted from the bill .All in all its a nice hotel in a lovely area with nice staff.

Stayed one night at the Tower Hotel - the location is excellent. Room rates not too bad for this area of London. Food and drinks over priced as always in the tourist areas - best to go out for a walk and find somewhere else to eat and drink!! Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable, staff pleasant and helpful and the general appearance of the hotel was fine - would stay here again.

I’m glad you really enjoyed your stay with us. We have an early dining menu; 3 courses for £25.00 per person including tea, coffee and a glass of house wine so perhaps you could try this during your next stay.

The location of this hotel overlooking the Thames and the Tower Bridge provides a beautiful view, especially at night. If you intend to spend a day in the Tower of London, you can't get any closer - its literally across the street!

Overall, it is extremely easy to get both to and from the hotel to many areas, especially if you need to go to financial institutions. The fact that there are always taxi's waiting makes it easy to hit the town quickly as well. In terms of hotel perks, the staff is courteous and helpful, and the free wi-fi through British Telecom is actually pretty reliable (neither of which should be undervalued).

While I would be disappointed with the wear on the hotel if it were in the US, for London I think its actually at least average. I don't know about all floors, but the 10th floor was showing its age, from peeling wallpaper to the worn out carpets. That being said, the bathroom was clean and the room was functional.

I will stay here again, given the other options in the area.

Room Tip: I would request a "room with a view". It is very pleasant.
