“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Stayed here 16/17 December 2012 for a low cost Christmas getaway.

We arrived and checked in easily, the hotel staff were helpful. The room was a bit dated, could do with a bit of modernizing, but it was nice enough, clean is what matters.

We didn't eat at the hotel, just used it as a bed, which for £29 a night, is perfect. It's a 10 minute walk or 2 minute bus ride to Kings Cross St Pancras, and from there you can get the tube anywhere you need to. Ideal location for a weekend in London. I'd stay again, you get what you pay for!

Stayed here for £44 for my friend and I. It was clean and tidy. A bit basic but for £20 each for a night in central London it was an absolute bargain.

Bit of a walk to tube station but can't complain for £44.

Would stay here again.

We found this place to be clean, of excellent value with very friendly helpful staff in a fantastic location. Many people hereabouts are complaining about noise; sure, there is a modicum of traffic noise but is this not to be expected when staying in a hotel in a busy area of the UK's capital city? Recommended.

The hotel is in a convenient location but it's far too noisy - the windows in the rooms may as well have been non-existent for all the good they did. I ended up with so little sleep I cut short the trip and came home early.

The food and service in the hotel couldn't be faulted and the rooms were basic but OK apart from the noise.

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the front of the building.

This hotel is tired and run down. have unfortunately booked several dates using their advance purchase scheme so cannot cancel, would do if I could but will lose money so will have to revisit again at which time I will review again. Not expecting much change as the management do not seem to care too much. Tried feedback via their own website but I was unable to access due to no one available so my comments were ignored.
Rooms are tired with worn and stained stained carpets and furniture. It was reasonably clean. Half the lights did not work , tv remote did not work, bathroom sink blocked, mirror broken and held up with tape. no room heating available. As this was on arrival it shows poor standards of room checking. Reported faults during stay, to a very abrubt and patronising polish receptionist. On returning the sink was partially unblocked, half the lights were repaired, and I was provided with a temporary electric heater. The TV remote worked to change channels , but only that!!.

Its tired, and old and needs massive investment. It used to be another brand which they have taken over, stripped it bare and not upgraded in any size shape or form. For a quick one night stop I suppose most will put up with the tat and never revisit. My advice is the management do not repond well to complaint and do little to fix what are appaling standards, which are not anything like the pictures on the website. And for the price they are overcharging!! As I said would never set foot again but foolishly booked a series of dates for work in london. Dreading my next visit, but no way to cancel even though the place is of such poor quality and badly maintained.

Room Tip: avoid if possible till its refurbished!!

My wife and I stayed here on a business trip and this was booked for us by our hosts, regretably the first room we were offered was most unsuitable as the toilet seat was off its hinges and the room was dirty. this is a tired hotel which is a shame as it is quite conveniently located near to Kings Cross station and is within walking distance of Leicester Square, Covent Garden,The Royal Acadamy and Saville Row. we have often used the travelodge hotels internationally as they are usually value for money, clean and efficient. However this was not our experience here and one wonders what international visitors think of our capital if this is the best we can offer. This hotel is very basic, no telephone in the room which means a trip to receptiojn to source a hair dryer (not standard in the room) or to book an early morning newspaper etc. Our room was not clean especially areas under and around the bed and although the bed was ok the single pillows are of poor qhality and not very comfortable. the tile in the bathroom is crakcked and chipped and the en-suit itself very small, the tv remote did not work (another trip to reception) and although we were supplied with a replacement remote, should it not be checked prior to renting the room??. breakfast was, however, on the whole good value for money with the exception of the scrambled eggs from a packet and virtually inedible) and the orange juice, too syrupy, again I would not be surprised to find this is diluted from concentrate,. A good selection of options available and all for £7! Quite a bargain in our capital city, but thats another issue! Malcolm SStott

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere!
