“Large, inner-city hotel, good buffet breakfast.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

One estimate of the number of hotel rooms in London is 101,269. As a family with 2 adults and 2 children traveling together used to the standard hotel configurations in North America, it proved very difficult to find a room with 2 queen beds in it. It seems only a select few hotels in central London offer this option, and we were fortunate the Hilton London Metropole was one of them. Being a stone’s-throw from Edgeware Road underground stations, and 1/3rd of a mile from Paddington Station is really convenient.
Also, the ability to leave our bags securely at the reception desk prior to check-in scored bonus points for us.
This is a large, business-orientated, inner-city hotel with little charm but has all the amenities of a Hilton.

Dear frater93,

Thank you for your review. I have note you comments and you are correct, we are a very big hotel but I would really like to know what you meant by saying "sadly very dark inside”? Please feel free to contact me at your own conveniences to let me know, I will be more than happy to assist you and see if there is any area where we might need to improve to make your stay much more comfortable for your next visit. In fact, regarding the size of the room why not try our Superior room on your next stay, these are one of the largest room you will find in London.

Also I wanted to thank you for comment regarding breakfast, I was happy to see that you enjoyed it.

Once again thank you for your review and I hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back very soon.

Best regards,
Jean Laurent

“Satisfactory if identikit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

This is a very large Hilton in terms of room numbers, located within walking distnace of Marylebone Station but a good mile or two out from the centre of London. I stayed for just one night whilst attending a function in nearby Park Lane. For that reason I didn't get to use or look at many of the facilities.

The reception area is large and reasonably impressive. The rooms were very much standard Hilton fare - far from huge but a good enough size. Drab 'view' out on to a concrete wall. The bathroom was nice and clean and the room didn't look too dated. Nice big modern flat screen TV.

An excellent breakfast buffet made for a good start to the following day.

All in all, a brief stay but this hotel did not disappoint me in any way. Don't even think about paying the rack rates, though!

“Excellent location and value for money, great for the family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Our family of four stayed at the Hilton Metropole, just off Edgeware Road. The location couldn't be better, superbly situated and close to all amenities. The hotel itself is Hilton standard, with great tolietries in each room and tea and coffee making facitlies together with lots of biscuits. We extended our checkout time and have fresh tea cups and biscuits arranged at no extra cost.
The hotel is very busy and the breakfast (included in our deal), was great. One tip is that as the hotel is very big, everyone goes to the same breakfast buffet room. There is another one, huge in size on the -B2 floor. Just head down, there were no queues and we had breakfast in style. Delicious English breakfast and all the regular good quality buffet breakfast menus which cater for all. We didn't try the in-house retaurants or room service as we opted to get take-aways from Edgeware Road, most notably, the excellent Lebanese and Arab fare.
Service upong arrival was good (we are Hilton Honor members so used that privileged desk), and any request was immediately followed up. A very speedy and professional service.
All in all, a great value for stay in expensive London, super for couples and families alike.

Room Tip: Ask for a free upgrade, they provide it if there is availability

“Large though very efficient hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Always concerned when booking into a large hotel through an internet site. However from the warm welcome from the doorman through to checking in it was all as smooth as could wish.
We asked for an upper floor and had a room on the 10th.
The room was very adequate in every way, clean though may be a little worn, however that may be being a little unfair.
The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. There was, in the two mornings we eat there, a very small wait to be taken to the table. In the busy period there were enough food stations to ensure waiting was almost no existent.
The staff were well trained in that they would eyeball you and ensure you were served pleasantly and effeciently.
We had a drink of tea/coffee in the bar about 10:00 one night and again well served. It was expensive, however this is a major hotel in a major city and if we were worried over the cost we could have made a drink in the room.
Would we stay there again - definitely yes. The staff are well trained and motivated and it is clearly a well managed hotel. We did not have any problems though we are sure if we had it would have been sorted to our satisfaction.

Room Tip: Higher the better
