“Spacious room and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We stayed in one of the renovated rooms and it was great, nice and new. It's such a treat to have plenty of space both in the room and in the bathroom. They had electrical outlets to fit American, European and UK chargers, etc. I thought that was super cool. The maid service was great and the concierges were good. Lots of places within walking distance. Great pub called The Princes or something like that that we went to on our first day. Gordon's wine bar also close - didn't have time to go there but it was recommended in my guidebook. Overall I think this hotel was worth the money.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.

Had a wonderful time here. Our room had a great view over the Thames, the concierge was very helpful, the chef superb. My wife is Taiwanese, so only really likes Chinese food. She was not impressed with the food we had been having on our holiday back in the UK. However, she was blown away by the food in this hotel; the dinners, the presentation, the choice and quality - all superb. Then the buffet breakfast, rounded it off for her. I have had many a good meal in London, and these dinners were up there with the best. The room was also really fine, and all the staff excellent.

Room Tip: We chose a top floor room with views over the Thames. Obviously they cost more, but it was worth it...

We chose Royal Horseguards for our brief stay in London after a Windstar Cruise based on reviews on Trip Advisor and a recommendation as a place to stay in London from Windstar.
We were surprised that no other passengers who were on our cruise chose to stay at Royal Horseguards post cruise. The hotel and staff were exceptional from the time of our arrival. We had not chosen one of the more expensive rooms which many have praised which offer a direct view of the London Eye and other major London landmarks. Our room afforded a view of interior walls and windows; however, the room itself was exceptional in both its size for London and its amenities. We were also never treated like less significant guests because we had not chosen one of the pricier rooms.
Everything about Royal Horseguards is special. The location can't be beat for walking access to many of London's landmark buildings and areas both in Westminster and the Southbank. The hotel is directly across the Thames from the London Eye and down the street from Big Ben, Parliament, and the Royal Horseguards. Within a block is a pedestrian walkway to the Southbank with its many fine restaurants and, of course, the Eye and Waterloo Station.
We chose to include breakfast with our room booking. We were not disappointed. The breakfast buffet was extensive and well-prepared and served. The restaurant area of the hotel is casually elegant. The staff, like all those we encountered in our stay, were exceptional in both friendliness and attentiveness.
We owe special thanks to the concierge team, particularly Richard and Rishi, who were very helpful both before and during our visit with travel suggestions, restaurant suggestions, and ticketing for area tours and attractions. The hotel is perfectly located with a nearby tube station, a nearby Hop on Hop Off Bus stop, and many local pubs and restaurants, walking distance to Parliament, Big Ben, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, the Royal Horseguard Parade Ground, Westminster Abbey, and other major London attractions. The location is simply superb as is the staff and hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Thames are exceptional but pricey.

We stayed at The royal Horseguards hotel for three nights. The room was beautiful and clean the bed was wonderfully comfortable, the shower was amazing but the thing that topped it all off was the view of the river and London eye, breathtaking doesn't even cover it. My fiancé proposed and ordered a rose petal turn down which was beautifully done and romantic. The staff were lovely, we walked in on the housekeeper making our room up and she was lovely, the doorman was a real character immediately made us feel welcome. Beautiful hotel I loved our stay x

The location of this property--just steps from Trafalgar Square, the Mall, Parliament and Embankment make this quiet hotel a great base from which to head off in any direction. The rooms that overlook the Thames and the London Eye are not to be missed-assuming you can foot the bill. The hotel inspires a discretion that few hotels can match. If you're looking for a cacophony of excitement and a loud, pulsing beat, this is NOT your hotel. If refined service and commensurate amenities are, this IS the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask (before you reserve) for location and room size--they vary greatly.
